Following an extremely strong showing at San Diego Comic-Con last weekend with Tim Miller's Terminator: Dark Fate and Tom Cruise's Top Gun: Maverick, Paramount Pictures is getting all-set to launch a new theatrical trailer for one of the biggest and most hotly awaited films of the year: Ang Lee's Gemini Man.

While you'll have to wait until tomorrow for the new trailer, Paramount has shared an informative new behind-the-scenes featurette, with fresh interviews from 2x Academy Award-nominated star Will Smith (Aladdin) and 2x Academy Award-winning director Ang Lee (Life of Pi) as they discussing the extremely intricate and borderline unprecedented process behind deaging Smith almost thirty years for the length of a full-length feature film.

The film stars Smith as Henry Brogan, an elite assassin, who suddenly finds himself being hunted by a mysterious young operative that knows his each and every move. As you know by now, the agent is actually himself... well, more accurately a de-aged version of Smith that is just as deadly, if not deadlier.

This story is not one that could have been told with cinema as we know it. However, thanks to incredible new digital technology, not only can we finally see both younger and older Will Smith embodied together on screen, but we can also experience the story in a deeply immersive way. It is my great fortune to be able to experiment and test the limits of what new digital cinema has to offer us. No less so to be able to work with two Will Smiths - One beautifully sophisticated, the other exuberantly honest. In my opinion, this is Will at his very best, and when the two come together, it is something truly magical. Further, the immense effort and technical skill of the crew in creating a new aesthetic, between the cinematography, art department, visual effects, and technical team, was both inspiring and heartwarming. I truly hope that this movie delivers a completely new theatrical cinematic experience to audiences across the world.” - Ang Lee, Director of GEMINI MAN

The emotional and physical challenges of making this film have been the most demanding of my career. Ang is pushing the limits to give people an experience in the movie theater that you can’t get anywhere else. This is not only an action film, but an exploration of what one’s younger self can ultimately teach one’s older self. I’m 50-years-old now, and the irony of becoming 23-year-old Junior in this film is that 23-year-old me wouldn’t have been ready for this experience or to take on this role. Our hope is that this story provides something for everyone -- never before seen cinematic wizardry, nuanced, relatable characters and next-level action.” - Will Smith, Starring in GEMINI MAN

@tmp3 - Yeah, I wasn't going to see this but that's a really great point. We need to support more movies like this and Once Upon A Time In...Hollywood.

I saw David Benioff's name in the credits and I immediately disliked this movie, but...Ang Lee so...I'll support it.

How hard could it have been? The man looks like he's barely aged.

@DnA - He released one in 2016, lol

Ended up being his first dud since Hulk in 2003. Great director when he's good though; Brokeback was masterful and Life of Pi was great too.

@tmp3 - He's unexpectedly one of my favourite directors. I never thought about the director of a film much and I rarely committed their names to memory, but he has directed many I like, including Brokeback Mountain and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

The young CG Will Smith still looks weird. There are shots in that first trailer where it’s totally convincing, and other shots that look super rubbery and keyframey.

I saw the trailer in the theater - where things often look better (like the Cats trailer was a few degrees less creepy) - and the young Will still didn’t look good at all

It helps that he really hasn’t aged that much tbh which I think is why they made sure to give them distinctive hair cuts

I dont think it's possible to hate Will but maaaaaaaaan... will he ever star in a great movie ? Not sure if he has bad luck or just prefers shitty scripts that pay too well.

At least respect to him for not playing it safe on this one. He needs to work more with great directors like Ang Lee. Still boggles my mind how he turned down Quentin FCKNG Tarantino. Hope he learned his lesson. Dude has mad skills, that FPOBA father scene still is the GOAT.

All they had to do to make Will Smith look young was give him a flat top wig.

The man has barely any wrinkles or lines on his face. If they got rid of the goatee and carefully greyed hair on the temple, there would be no difference.

Ang Lee just needed an excuse for a big budget.
