With the holiday movie season all but over, it's time to start looking ahead to 2019 and the first major blockbuster on the upcoming release calendar: M. Night Shaymalan's long-awaited Glass. 

The highly-anticipated sequel to 2000's Unbreakable and 2016's Split will feature an all-star cast that includes Academy Award-nominee Samuel L. Jackson (Avengers: Endgame) as Elijah Price/Mr. Glass, Golden Globe-winner Bruce Willis (Death Wish) as David Dunn/The Overseer, Golden Globe-nominee James McAvoy (Dark Phoenix) as Kevin Wendell Crumb/The Horde, Golden Globe-winner Sarah Paulson (Ocean's 8) as Dr. Ellie Staple, Anya Taylor-Joy (The New Mutants) as Casey Cooke, Spencer Treat Clark (Unbreakable) as Joseph Dunn, and Charlayne Woodard (Unbreakable) as Mrs. Price.

As the release date swiftly approaches, two new international posters for the film have been released online. Check them out below:




 
M. Night Shyamalan brings together the narratives of two of his standout originals—2000’s Unbreakable, from Touchstone, and 2016’s Split, from Universal—in one explosive, all-new comic-book thriller: Glass.

Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.

Even though I quite liked Unbreakable and Split, and I honestly admire the approach to this universe (which is saying something, considering it's Shyamalan)... I still can't find myself getting interested in this movie.

Maybe it's a mood thing and I'll come around on it like I did for Split. I don't think I saw that movie until well after it had bounced around on home release.

@Spock0Clock - I really like Unreakable, and I thought Split was fine, but I can't say I'm particularly hyped for Glass. Maybe that's not too bad though, because there's very little chance of disappointment when I get to watch it. We'll see.

@Spock0Clock - It might be because it seems to be pushing in advertisement that this is another standard superhero film just from all the themes. At least with Unbreakable, it felt like a drama and with Split, it felt like a thriller mixed with horror.

I liked how the previous films occupied unique genres that complimented the title characters. David had a very tangible world, and it dealt with very grounded issues like masculinity, marriage, and family; Unbreakable being a drama fit that all of that very well.

The Beast's abilities and temperament lends itself to horror and thrills.

With this seemingly being the end and Elijah being character who loves comics and superheroes & villians, Glass should be a superhero film of sorts.

@Origame - this being a more traditional one than the others. Unbreakable and Split imo are very much a drama and horror/thriller at their core.

@BlackBeltJones - Unbreakable is Dunns movie,Split is Beasts movie and Glass is well Mr. Glass movie and Glass being a comic book fanboy it totally makes sense the whole movie feels like a superhero story but i bet there will be a big twist that will turn the genre on its head.

I can't decide whether a Sixth Sense twist would be awesome or terrible. I just have this idea in my head where the movie ends with an obscured figure checking himself into the hospital. Then when they ask what they're there for, it's revealed to be Haley Joel Osment who says "I see dead people".

@MasterMix - well i can at least say thats not gonna happen. This is all part of the planned unbreakable trilogy shyamalan never got to make. I doubt hed have another connecting twist when its clearly meant to be a close to the story.

At 63 years old, Bruce Willis seems to be too old to portray a superhero. I wonder how long he can headline this cinematic universe. If Universal plans to expand this superhero universe, I am going to conjecture that another super-powered individual will be introduced in Glass!

I guess I'm mostly just happy that with this we'll definitely get to see Anya Taylor-Joy in a superhero movie with horror elements in theaters next year.

I'll be seeing this first week. The trailers haven't done anything for me but the draw of the 2 prior movies coming together is enough for me. I know it'll be another twist
