GODZILLA VS. KONG Director Adam Wingard Confirms That [SPOILER] Will Indeed Appear In The Movie

It's one of Godzilla vs. Kong's worst kept secrets, but director Adam Wingard has now confirmed that a certain Kaiju will indeed be part of the upcoming crossover event. Find out more details right here...

Godzilla vs. Kong hits HBO Max (and select theaters) on March 31st, but one of the movie's biggest surprises has been common knowledge for a while now. Mechagodzilla will be part of this crossover event, and while we don't know how the Titan will factor into the plot, director Adam Wingard has taken to Instagram to make the iconic Kaiju's role in the proceedings 100% official.

This is definitely one of those instances where toys have spoiled a movie's twist, and it's strange that Warner Bros. hasn't just embraced the information being out there and put Mechagodzilla in some trailers. However, there's a big difference between a toy and the real deal, and just knowing this mechanical beast is part of the movie has made fans want to see it in all its robotic glory.

Regardless, it seems fair to say that the fact a skyscraper-sized robot capable of battling Godzilla and Kong has been created in the world this movie takes place in indicates that the franchise is about to embrace its sci-fi roots in a big way (a major change to the grounded tone of 2014's Godzilla).

The cast of Godzilla vs. Kong includes Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza González, Julian Dennison, Kyle Chandler, and Demián Bichir. It's set to be released on March 31st in the U.S., though it's simply "Coming Soon" in countries where theaters remain closed (it has been dated for March 26th in a handful of locations).

Got to wonder how Charles Dance built that and created godzilla’s skin

@dracula - I don't think they will do the godzilla slfake skin thing. If they do it will probably be a hologram. I bet the military/monarch built the parts over a godzilla skeleton

Watching this tonight, I’ll let you know what I think. I’m only really going in looking for a logical explanation on how humans suddenly built a massive Mechagodzilla, if I get it I’ll be satisfied.

No. Clearly they made all those mechagodzilla toys and merchandise (with a design different from every main series version) for the lulz.

It wasn't just the toys it was also the trailers and pretty much anyone with even the slightest bit of Godzilla or even Japanese Godzilla knowledge could tell that Mechagodzilla was going to be in this film and was going to be playing a huge part of this films plot or at least be apart of this films plot in some way shape or form but that's just what I think anyways.

Not surprising at all. If it was ever a secret, it was a public secret at best.

Still, very much looking forward to a lizard, a monkey and (now officially) a robot punching the hell out of each other.

Why does it have Kong arms?

@Reeds2Much - the mecha godzilla that humans built in the old franchise(supermechagodzilla) always had longer arms than godzilla
