With the cast of Adam Wingard's Godzilla vs. Kong fully assembled, Legendary Pictures has announced that production on the highly-anticipated clash of the titans is now underway.

Unfortunately, the studio's Tweet was accompanied by a previously seen image from Godzilla: King of the Monsters, but we do have a synopsis which finally sheds some like on what fans can expect from the plot.

Without going into too much detail, it reveals that the two iconic creatures will do battle amid a "human conspiracy" to wipe out their kind for good.

In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.

Godzilla vs. Kong stars Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza Gonzalez, Jessica Henwick, Julian Dennison, Kyle Chandler, Demian Bichir, Van Marten and Zhang Ziyi. The film is set to stomp into theaters on May 22nd, 2020.
