Warner Bros. Home Entertainment announced today that Michael Dougherty's Godzilla: King of the Monsters will arrive on Digital HD on August 6th and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on August 27th.

While expectations were high for the MonsterVerse sequel, the film has severely underperformed at both the domestic and international box offices, having, as of today, grossed only a grand total of $384 million worldwide ($109.2M domestic; $274.8M foreign) after six weeks on release.

Fortunately, WBHE is still going all out to treat fans to a plethora of informative special features, including a number of behind-the-scenes videos that take you into the creation of Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah and Rodan as well as the numerous different set pieces. Plus, expect a number of deleted scenes, and it also sounds like the release may contain a small tease of what's to come in Godzilla vs. Kong next year.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters is currently available to pre-order at Best Buy in 4K Ultra HD Steelbook, 4K Ultra HD, 3D Blu-ray, and Blu-ray.

“Best Godzilla of all time!”

Directed by Michael Dougherty (“Krampus,” “Trick ‘r Treat,” “Superman Returns”), the film stars Kyle Chandler (“Catch-22,” “The Wolf of Wall Street,” “Argo,” TV’s “Friday Night Lights”), Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga (“Up in the Air,” “The Conjuring” films, TV’s “Bates Motel”) and Millie Bobby Brown (TV’s “Stranger Things”) in her feature film debut.

From Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures, in association with Toho Co. Ltd. and Huahua Media, the film’s acclaimed ensemble cast also includes Bradley Whitford (“Get Out,” “The Post”), Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins (“The Shape of Water,” “Blue Jasmine”), Charles Dance ( TV’s “Game of Thrones,” “The Imitation Game”), Thomas Middleditch (“The Wolf of Wall Street,” TV’s “Silicon Valley”), Aisha Hinds (“Star Trek Into Darkness,” “The Next Three Days”), O’Shea Jackson Jr. (“Straight Outta Compton,” “Long Shot”), Oscar nominee David Strathairn (“Good Night, and Good Luck,” “Godzilla”), Oscar nominee Ken Watanabe (“The Last Samurai,” “Inception,” “Godzilla”) and Golden Globe nominee Ziyi Zhang (“Memoirs of a Geisha,” “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”).

Dougherty directed from a script he wrote with Zach Shields, story by Max Borenstein, Dougherty and Shields, based on the characters “Godzilla,” “King Ghidorah,” “Mothra” and “Rodan” owned and created by Toho Co., Ltd. The film was produced by Mary Parent, Alex Garcia, Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and Brian Rogers, with Shields, Barry Waldman, Hiro Matsuoka, Keiji Ota, Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Yoshimitsu Banno and Kenji Okuhira serving as executive producers, and Ali Mendes and Jay Ashenfelter co-producing for Legendary.

Behind the scenes, Dougherty’s creative team included director of photography Lawrence Sher (the “Hangover” films, “Godzilla”), production designer Scott Chambliss (“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” “Star Trek Into Darkness”), editors Roger Barton (“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,” the “Transformers” films), Oscar nominee Richard Pearson (“United 93,” “Kong: Skull Island”) and Bob Ducsay (“Godzilla,” “Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi”), costume designer Louise Mingenbach (the “X-Men” films, the “Hangover” films) and Oscar-winning VFX supervisor Guillaume Rocheron (“Life of Pi,” “Godzilla”). Music is by Bear McCreary (TV’s “The Walking Dead,” “10 Cloverfield Lane”).

The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc of “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” will feature Dolby VisionTM HDR, which dramatically expands the color palette and contrast range, and uses dynamic metadata to automatically optimize the picture for every screen, frame by frame. It will also feature HDR10+TM, a new HDR technology that optimizes brightness levels and contrast for each scene.

The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc of “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” will also feature a Dolby Atmos® soundtrack remixed specifically for the home theater environment to place and move audio anywhere in the room, including overhead. To experience Dolby Atmos at home, a Dolby Atmos enabled AV receiver and additional speakers are required, or a Dolby Atmos enabled sound bar. Dolby Atmos soundtracks are also fully backward compatible with traditional audio configurations and legacy home entertainment equipment.

“Godzilla: King of the Monsters” will also be available on Movies Anywhere. Using the free Movies Anywhere app and website, consumers can access all their eligible movies by connecting their Movies Anywhere account with their participating digital retailer accounts.

Fans can also own “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” via purchase from digital retailers beginning August 6.

Was very disapointed, and with the director of the american death note directing Kong VS Godzila, I am really worried about it

@Forthas - I agree with the Godzilla 2014 but not with Kong thought it was on about the same level

I really liked the movie, but I did notice a few issues, so I understand why it didn't do so well ... also marketing. I'm also a little worried for Godzilla vs Kong, but still looking forward to it.

This movie kicked ass don't care about what the critics said or a crappy score. Not everyone is trying to make an Oscar winning film. Looking forward to the home release and Kong vs Godzilla next year.

They are pushing forward with this cinematic universe that has little to no following? Weird

Very underwatched and entertaining Godzilla film. It deserved better luck but it seems this is the destiny of every WB's tentpole film this year.

I don't disagree with the reviews, it is a very flawed and rather poorly executed film......and yet as a lifelong Godzilla fan I LOVED IT!!!! The monster action is delivered in spades and that's all I really wanted from this. Much like how pretty much anybody agrees a Friday the 13th movie isn't any good really, but they're so fun to watch, I feel the same ways with Godzilla movies. I will be picking this up Day 1.

But contrary to the critic quote, it is BY NO MEANS WHATSOEVER the best Godzilla movie. The original 1954 movie, Godzilla 1985 and Godzilla vs. Biollante all WAY outrank this one.

Lots of underwhelming box office flops this year. Guarantee WB thought this would be making $600mil+

Seen it in theaters 3 times so far, gets better every time. If I see it one more time before it's gone, it'll hold my personal record for most theatrical viewings. It's currently tied with Avatar and The Avengers.

Wingard better not [frick] up GvK.

This was so, so disappointing. Let me give you the short of it; just about everything involving the monsters works very well. The mythology, the personalities of the monsters, and the majority of the fight scenes are great. That said, the human element in this drags the film down HARD. Just about every scene involving humans, especially the Russell family, stops the movie dead to the point that it threatens to completely derail the film. This movie is the definition of a 5/10 rating, where half of the movie work and the other half almost ruins it.

The humans in this movie gave me ass cancer, everything else was perfect! The music and Cgi was too notch.. too bad they had to write such a retarded concept for the human characters. I still love you Zilla!
