It's looking good for a first look at some footage from Godzilla: King of The Monsters at SDCC, as EW has just debuted the first official stills from the upcoming sequel.

The first gives us a distant glimpse of the iconic behemoth, who hasn't been seen since the events of the 2014 reboot. Here, 'Zilla is unleashing his atomic breath straight up into the sky, no doubt aiming for one or all of the three flying beasts he'll be taking on in the film: King Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan.

The second image features our human protagonists, Dr. Emma Russell (Vera Farmiga) and her daughter Madison (Millie Bobby Brown). These two will be kidnapped by “a mysterious organization, with their own plans for the creatures” according to director Michael Dougherty.

Russell's estranged husband Mark (Kyle Chandler) will team up with returning Monarch members, played by Ken Watanabe and Sally Hawkins, to attempt a rescue.

That's all well and good, but what about a certain other giant monster that Godzilla will do battle with in 2020? “It’s not like we’re bending over backwards to introduce Kong, but there’s definitely some bread crumbs,” says Dougherty.

So, what do you guys make of these first Godzilla: King of The Monsters images? Let us know in the usual place.

Nothing beats Shin Godzilla though. The story and film is more faithful to Gojira. better than the US Remake. Highly recommended if no 1 has seen it yet.

*SPOILERS* (DO NOT WATCH THIS CLIP IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE FILM YET)

They really do look like they could be mother daughter. I’m hoping for more Godzilla and for the strong cast to carry the film, which is weird to say about a Godzilla movie

As terrible as it was, Godzilla with Matthew Broderick has a special place in my heart.
