GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS Star Vera Farmiga Shares New Details On Her Role; Can She Control Monsters?

Actress Vera Farmiga (The Conjuring) has shared some new details on her character in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and teases the possibility of seeing her control some of the movie's giant monsters...

There's still a little under a year left until Godzilla: King of the Monsters hits theaters, so it’s no surprise that a lot of details on the film have been kept under wraps. We know the latest entry in the MonsterVerse will feature King Ghidorah, Mothra and Rodan along with the King himself, but we've heard little about the human characters appearing in the film.

Fortunately, in a recent interview with Metro, actress Vera Farmiga shed some light on her role in the giant monster flick, and her character’s potential to control some of the beasts:

“I play a paleobiologist. She has figured out a way to communicate with the creatures and potentially control them using their bioacoustics on a sonar level. So she is like a DJ for the monsters.”

We’ll likely have to wait until the movie’s release to learn if Farmiga’s character actually manages to control any of the colossal creatures, but if she does, then that talent may prove incredibly useful when the monsters finally clash.

Either way, it sounds like The Conjuring actress might have a sizable role in the picture, as she not only has a way with monsters but will play the mother of Millie Bobby Brown’s (Stranger Things) character.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters stomps its way into theaters on May 31, 2019.

So far, I'm WAY more excited about this flick than the first one, especially with the involvement of Michael Dougherty (TRICK 'R TREAT and KRAMPUS) writing and directing it.

With just the two movies released so far, a nifty little cinematic universe has been established— but what’s great is that the connections are not so in-your-face that they get in the way of the “now” of the films. Most in the GA probably don’t even realize GODZILLA and KONG SKULL ISLAND are building toward something. That’s how you do it — make good standalones, plant connective tissue sparingly.

That does make sense. Especially since she’s using some sort of sonar. Many species, especially us as humans, have a certain to reaction to sound. Makes sense for giant monsters to have a reaction.

I'm way more excited for Godzilla vs Kong then this sequel. I just want to see Kong open up a couple cans of whoop-ass on Godzilla.

Anyone else think Kong will show sometime in the third act?

@ChangAlang - I think it will be a mid-credits scene showing a fully grown Kong...

@Larebel24 - I kind of think that too.

But how cool would it be.

@DarkArrow19 - It looks great. What's even more interesting is that the movie's apparently gonna be a combo of CG and animatronics, instead of all CG like Jungle Book.

@MUTO123 - that’s a smart move considering if it was all CGI, it would sort of defeat the purpose of calling it live action. Now I’m really looking forward to this!

I think it's a callback to how those tiny twins used to summon Mothra in the Toho movies. None of that here, so this is more of the scientific version of that. She probably summons Mothra and the larvae versions.

The study of bio-acoustics and how the monsters used it played a huge part in the first movie, mostly with Brian Cranston's character, so it's cool to see them bring back that aspect. Makes this universe they're building seem more consistent and believable

So this is going to be like the Godzilla cartoon where they can communicate with Godzilla through sonar. Will Godzuki be included in the story?

Anyway, hope they continue with this stories. Just make the pace more King Kong like and less Gareth Edward's!

I could see a connection with Mothra as she’s been able to communicate with humans in past films
