After taking on the Fantastic Four and Caeser, it sounds like Toby Kebbell is gearing up to take on something much, much bigger... KING KONG!

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Kebbell is currently in talks to join the cast of Universal & Legendary's upcoming monster origin story Kong: Skull Island, which hits theaters March 10, 2017 and is being helmed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings Of Summer).

He joins a cast that already features Tom Hiddleston (Thor), Brie Larson (21 Jump Street), Corey Hawkins (Straight Outta Compton), Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers), John C. Reilly (Guardians Of The Galaxy), and Tom Wilkinson (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol).

In addition to his villainous roles in Fantastic Four and Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, which were both produced by 20th Century Fox, Kebbell is also widely known for his roles in the British anthology series Black Mirror and in Walt Disney's Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time. His upcoming roles include a lead role in Duncan Jones' Warcraft, a part in Juan Antonio Bayona's horror fantasy film A Monster Calls, and another villainous turn in Timur Bekmambetov's Ben-Hur.

Kong: Skull Island is expected to kick off production late October in Hawaii.

What do you think of Kebbell's casting? Sound off with your thoughts below!

Cool, I'm sure he'll be able to stretch his legs of true potential in a film like this.

It's always nice to see when terrible movies DON'T ruin the careers of otherwise promising actors. Excited to see this guy flex his stuff in a movie that keeps adding to a great cast.

Is he playing Kong?

He's so far been a part of a lot of genre movies. Including this and Warcraft.

He could very well be the next Ron Perlman.

I hope the filming of this doesn't conflict with his duties for Fant4stic 2.

I thought he was great as Doom, it's just the character was poorly written for that movie. Lacked development and any motivation that made real sense.

But the sequence where he walks through the facility and kills everyone, I thought was pretty cool.

@SauronsBANE He should be careful anyways, When a name is associated with mostly bad movies, studios think twice fearing negative audience reactions.

Hollywood is a popularity contest, one bad movie is harmless, but 3 in a row could destroy a career. He will be in Warcraft and Ben-Hur, an expensive video game adaptation and a remake of a classic, both risky choices.

@dubjon

I would have to disagree. Jean-Claude Van Damme has been in more bad movies than I can count. Pauly Shore was the king of terrible movies. It all depends on the likeability of the actor. Kebbell will be fine.

Yes. I agree with OracularNerd. This is great exposure for him. He won't seem so...invisible

Hopefully he's okay with tasteful nude scenes, as he might be required to film one...without pants on.

@TheOracularNerd Kebbell, for me, is pretty invisible. I've yet to see him act in a movie which gets my rocks off or puts a fire in my belly.

Maybe with some extra yoga he'll be able to stretch his mind and body into something that resembles fantastic, but until then? I'd say his career is doomed.

People must be crazy if they think Fantastic Four is going to ruin anyone's career. The cast is way too talented to be forgotten.

If anyone hasn't seen Toby Kebbell in episode 3 of Black Mirror, I wholeheartedly recommend that you do. And all the episodes are self-contained so you don't need to worry about watching the previous episodes. Seriously one of the best hours of television out there.

lol at [frick] Fox. Yes, they ruined Fantastic Four but Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is one of the best modern blockbusters out there. And Kebell absolutely killed it as the villain Koba.

I'm pretty sure that all the stars of the Fantastic Four movie don't want to be referred to as Stars of the Fantastic Four movie... :-)
