Warner Bros. Home Entertainment today announced that they will release their Jordan Vogt-Roberts-directed MonsterVerse film Kong: Skull Island on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD on July 18, which will be preceded by a Digital HD release on June 20.

Skull Island proved to be a pretty solid performer this past March, earning its box office hit status as it raked in just over $565 million worldwide on a $185 million production budget, which, thanks to a strong international performance, topped the $529 million haul of its 2014 sister movie Godzilla

The film is already available to pre-order on Amazon and on Best Buy, where it is available in an exclusive Steelbook edition.

Movie was kinda middle of the line for me. Out of the 8 movies I've seen this year, this is number 8 on my list, but I didn't hate the movie, just didn't like it as much as I did the other 7.

Side note, had free passes to Wonder Woman, couldn't go, so I'm sad. Oh well

@JoeMomma29 - Completely. The plot and characters and their motivations were just dumb as all hell. Some scenes I thought were really bad.

@Mercwitham0uth - king Kong swatting choppers like mosquitos. What's not to like?

@TheBigkahuna - You can basically get the same thing in a transformers film.

@TheBigkahuna - Gee I dunno.

"Hey what's that over there?"

"It's a giant Ape!"

"What should we do?"

"Attack!!!!"

Destruction ensues.

Moments later.

"Grrrr... You killed my military men I wants revenge on da Ape now"

STUPID

@Mercwitham0uth - Lol. my exact thoughts when I saw that scene. I also like the part where he waits (FOR NO REASON!!!) to flip a switch to kill King Kong and gets squished.

What a stupid cartoon character.

@Mercwitham0uth - The movie wasn't about plot and characters. It was about monsters. Didn't you see Godzilla? What were you expecting? Monster films aren't about plots and characters.

@TheBigkahuna - "king Kong swatting choppers like mosquitos. What's not to like?"

I guess he was expecting great plots and characters in a monster movie. I don't think he's seen many of them, and doesn't understand the main focus is the MONSTERS! Like in Godzilla.

LSHF - 5/24/2017, 8:28 PM
@TheBigkahuna - P.S. I am guessing he didn't like the Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th films because they didn't have great plots and characters.

Mercwitham0uth
Mercwitham0uth - 5/24/2017, 9:46 PM
@SHFL - Did YOU see Godzilla? Barely had Godzilla in the film at all. What are you talking about?

Nightmare on Elm St. and Friday the 13th did what they were supposed to do.

Peter Jacksons King Kong had more life in it than this Kong.

@Mercwitham0uth - to be fair, SLJ had been looking for a fight after he lost the Vietnam war. That was his arc. He really wanted a win.
Mercwitham0uth
Mercwitham0uth - 5/24/2017, 9:59 PM
@MrDandy - Oh god that was so dumb. What about the part where Hiddleston is running around with a Samurai sword accurately hacking away at those mini pterodactyl's. Yeesh.
LSHF
LSHF - 5/28/2017, 11:47 AM
@Mercwitham0uth - "Jaws" had a shark that was barely in the film until later.

Nightmare and Friday aren't monster films, they are horror films.

Peter Jackson's King Kong was made for children.
Mercwitham0uth
Mercwitham0uth - 5/28/2017, 12:29 PM
@SHFL - [frick] Jaws.

I never said they were monster films. You're reaching.

Lol so a guy who likes a movie, a movie that was clearly written by somebody with the mentality of a child, says that Jacksons Kong was for children? LMFAO! Holy hell what a weak response.

I bet you thought Power Rangers, Max Steel, Monster Trucks, Transformers, and Pacific Rim are cinema masterpieces too. LOL GTFO here.
LSHF
LSHF - 5/28/2017, 2:02 PM
@Mercwitham0uth - No, "I" said they were monster films. My comment originally to you was about monster films. You replied to that with Nightmare and the other film, so I thought you were referring to them as monster films, otherwise, why mention them?

The response wasn't designed to be week or strong. Peter Jackson loved the original film as a child, and wanted to make an updated film of this that children would love. So, he made it for children.

I never saw any of the films you just mentioned.

Interesting that your reply insulted me, when I didn't insult you. Insulting others as a response is considered to be weak.

So, why don't YOU GTFO here? You argue like a child.
Mercwitham0uth
Mercwitham0uth - 5/28/2017, 2:59 PM
@SHFL - Because you mentioned the films you dumbass! YOU brought it up!!

No he didn't make it for children. Sorry you lost the argument again. Kong Skull Island had a script that was written with a child's mentality. It was a horrible script and you're all pissy cause you know I'm right and you can't accept it. Skull Island was absolute horseshit and you know it.

"I never saw any of the films you mentioned"

Bullshit stop lying.

How does it feel?

LSHF
LSHF - 5/28/2017, 3:36 PM
@Mercwitham0uth - I have no idea what your response is, as I block people who insult me.

All I was trying to tell you is to not expect too much from monster films, and it ends with you insulting me.

I am not reading anything you have to say anymore.

I wish you the best in enjoying films while expecting too much from them and hope you can learn to have adult-type conversations without insulting people.

Take care.

Also, not sure if anybody's seen this (it was published a couple months ago), but here's the opening scene that the director originally pitched.

"The alternate opening that I pitched to them, the studio said: ‘No. You’re crazy. You can’t do that.’ So it’s World War II. A full squad comes to this beach. They’re killing each other – and then suddenly, this giant monkey (that looks a lot like the monkey from the last King Kong movie) comes out of the jungle. And they just kill it. It’s dead. And you’re sitting there going, ‘wait, did they just kill King Kong? Did they kill the hero of this film?’

And then you’d hear a roar and see a much bigger creature – the real King Kong. That was the crazy version of me wanting to send a message that this isn’t like other King Kong movies that you’ve seen. The studio were like: ‘you can’t do that.’"

Here's the rest of the interview if you're interested.
