If you pick up the latest issue of Empire, you'll find this exclusive piece of Kong: Skull island concept art, depicting the gigantic simian king on the warpath. Plus, director Jordan Vogt-Robert reveals that the movie's more modern setting was his idea.

"The script I first read took place in 1917", Vogt-Roberts explains to the mag. "But when I started talking to the Legendary [Entertainment] guys, I was thinking, 'What weird King Kong movie would I want to see?' So I pitched them the Vietnam War connection, literally thinking they were gonna laugh me out of the room. And to Legendary's credit, they said, 'Cool. Let's figure it out.' The aesthetics of that time mixed with King Kong makes for an incredible genre mash-up."

Starring Brie Larson, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, Jing Tian, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, John Ortiz, Shea Whigham, and Toby Kebbell, Kong: Skull Island is set to be released on March 10th, 2017.

Will this King Kong be the same one that faces Godzilla? If so, Ive noticed that the events of this movie look like they are taking place in the 70s. What will Kong be doing for 40+ years before meeting Godzilla?

I'm just having a hard time accepting a Kong movie that doesn't follow the original story. Intrigued though.

Cool, Is there going to be another Godzilla before the crossover or is this the last solo movie?
