MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS Unleashes A Roar-some New Trailer With Mysteries And Monsters Galore

With New York Comic-Con in full swing, Legendary and Apple TV+ have released a new trailer and poster for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters and, as you've likely guessed from the teaser image, Godzilla is back!

Apple TV+ and Legendary have unleashed a new trailer and poster for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (via SFFGazette.com) and, while it features more "Monarch" than "Monsters," we'd say that kaiju fans will definitely be happy with what they see here.

In addition to showcasing Kong: Skull Island star John Goodman as Bill Randa, the mystery at the heart of this series is teased as we jump between two different periods in the life of lead character, Army Officer Lee Shaw (who is played here by real-life father and son Kurt and Wyatt Russell).

We're not sure how exactly the events of this spin-off series will inform Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, for example, but there's a chance the show will be largely standalone as it fills in some of the gaps in Monarch's secretive history without necessarily setting up what comes next.

During a recent interview with Collider, director Matt Shakman was asked if a full range of Toho creatures was on offer alongside the King of the Monsters.

"One of the great things about this was the chance to create new Titans, new monsters to add to the Monsterverse," he explains. "So, that's a part of it, using folks that we know and love from before is a part of it. I don't want to say too much so that you can be excited about what you see when you watch it."

Reactions and reviews have also started surfacing today - critics were sent the first five episodes - and we should have more to share with you on that front soon. However, we wouldn't necessarily expect a definitive Rotten Tomatoes score just yet as many critics will likely wait until closer to November 17 before chiming in.

"Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco, and the shocking revelation that monsters are real," reads the synopsis, "'Monarch: Legacy of Monsters' tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch."

"Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army Officer Lee Shaw, taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows."

Based on the Monsterverse from Legendary, and starring Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett and Elisa Lasowski, this dramatic saga - spanning three generations - reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.

Developed by Chris Black (Severance) and Matt Fraction (Hawkeye), the first two episodes were helmed by WandaVision and Fantastic Four director Matt Shakman.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters premieres November 17 on Apple TV+.

@Razorface1 - Considering Gamera bears no resemblance to Godzilla other than they both breath fire...and that the production company that owns the right to Godzilla is different from Legendary that is producing their own version AND the rights to King Kong is owned by yeat another studio so there is no reason why they could not do the same with Gamera

Looks great! Apple has really surprised me with their stellar shows and movies, and they're embracing the theatrical release unlike Netflix and Amazon

This looks really good. And also, it looks like this will take place during Godzilla, King of Monsters and GvK. That's interesting

I liked how they're referencing the past movies with the events in San Francisco (Godzilla 2014), King of the Monsters with the Antartica shot (alluding Russell's older character was there) and even Skull Island with John Goodman's character which makes me think if we might ever get to see Wyat Russell interact with fellow MCU vets like Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson.

And that shot showing the scale of Godzilla by trailing behind it's tail was amazing.
