Monsters And Mechs Collide In The Action-Packed Final Trailer For PACIFIC RIM UPRISING

Pacific Rim was met with something of a mixed response from moviegoers, hence why most didn't believe it would ever get a sequel. However, a strong performance overseas opened the door to a follow-up becoming a reality and while Guillermo Del Toro won't be back at the helm, Daredevil season one showrunner Steven S. DeKnight is in charge and it looks like he's bringing epic action to the table.

The whole thing looks a tad Transformers-ish, though, and the robots bear a striking resemblance to Autobots and Decepticons rather than the more unique designs we saw in the first instalment.

There's plenty of epic action on display despite that and fans of Pacific Rim will probably end up loving this. The final trailer does a good job of selling the movie so those who didn't like the last one may also end up having their minds changed. What do you guys think? Let us know your thoughts down below.

John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) stars as the rebellious Jake Pentecost, a once-promising Jaeger pilot whose legendary father gave his life to secure humanity’s victory against the monstrous “Kaiju.” Jake has since abandoned his training only to become caught up in a criminal underworld. But when an even more unstoppable threat is unleashed to tear through our cities and bring the world to its knees, he is given one last chance to live up to his father’s legacy by his estranged sister, Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi)—who is leading a brave new generation of pilots that have grown up in the shadow of war. As they seek justice for the fallen, their only hope is to unite together in a global uprising against the forces of extinction.
Jake is joined by gifted rival pilot Lambert (The Fate of the Furious’ Scott Eastwood) and 15-year-old Jaeger hacker Amara (newcomer Cailee Spaeny), as the heroes of the PPDC become the only family he has left. Rising up to become the most powerful defense force to ever walk the earth, they will set course for a spectacular all-new adventure on a towering scale.

The first trailer was way better. What the hell?

Still, dumb fun action I guess.

Ehhhhh...

I really like how Del Toro's mechs moved. It was very steady, the were supremely heavy and just monstrous.

This feels radically different from Del Toro's vision and I think that's going to hurt it.

@BlackBeltJones - i was just thinking that. i loved the first one...i'll prob see this, but just not as hyped for it...and the mechs just dont look as original or as good, imo

@BlackBeltJones - Yeah, that was my reaction too... I had a blast with the first film and bought into the size and scale of things. Here, with mechs doing jumps and flips and such it feels like they abandoned all of that.

Cinematography doesn't look as slick as the first movie.

But I'm not going to complain about getting more Pacific Rim. Hopefully it's got that goofy anime side the original had.

We'll see how this one is. It clearly does not have the same killer art direction as Del Toro's Pacific Rim.

Love it or hate it, the production design on that film was amazing.

The visuals in this don't work like GDT's did. It also looks like it takes itself a bit too seriously. I would have liked to seen more of Mako as a pilot and Hunham return.

I literally have no idea why these trailers are getting hate. Looks good to me. Its exactly what this movie should look and feel like. Does it feel a bit different from del Toro's? Yeah. Is that necessarily a bad thing? No. First film was great, hopefully this will be just as good.

Listen I will take any giant mecha movie I can get right now! We aren't getting an Evangellion flick, and this just looks like everything about the first film turned up to 11. So I will turn my brain off and watch it like a Bay flick!

I don't get the hate either. I mean, it's mecha, it has all of the things expected from that genre.

I'll still go see it...but not as hyped as i thought i would be. I absolutely loved the first Pacific Rim so this is kinda a let down...and idk why

The action I'm sure is cool, but this looks like a cheap cheesy sequel to me. And why are they all so damn young?

Are you people on drugs? This looks way WAY better than the first one. I'm a huge kaiju fan and I was bored to tears by the first. This looks like more of a proper kaiju flick from the golden age of kaiju movies. To me the SFX look top notch and miraculously it all takes place during the day. I'm so tired of action taking place in the dark, while its raining, and everything is obscured by smoke. It seems like everyones default reaction to trailers is the CG sucks. Every time. This looks like a blast. The director said hes a fan of stuff like Ultraman and Godzilla and boy does it show. Cant wait. Give it a chance whiners.
