The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Dichen Lachman (Jurassic World: Dominion; Severance) has joined the cast of 20th Century Studios and Walt Disney Pictures' upcoming Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

Further details on her part are being heavily kept under wraps.

She joins an ensemble cast featuring Owen Teague, Freya Allan, Peter Macon, Eka Darville, Kevin Durand, Travis Jeffery, Neil Sandilands, Sara Wiseman, Lydia Peckham, Ras-Samuel Weld A'abzgi, and William H. Macy.

Teague is believed to be playing Cornelius, the son of Caesar (Andy Serkis).

As for the plot, according to THR's story, the upcoming follow-up will pick up several years after the events of 2017's War for the Planet of the Apes, where, "Many apes societies have grown from when the Moses-like Caesar brought his people to an oasis, while humans have been reduced to a feral-like existence. Some groups have never heard of Caesar, while others have contorted his teaching to build burgeoning empires."

They continue, "In this setting, one ape leader begins to enslave other groups to find human technology, while another ape, who watched his clan be taken, embarks on a journey to find freedom. A young human woman becomes key to latter’s quest, although she has plans of her own."

Filming has already kicked off in Australia, with Wes Ball in the director's chair and a screenplay from Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Patrick Aison.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is expected to hit theaters on May 24, 2024.

Going to be hard to live up to what Reeves did in the last 2 movies

Also man anyone is going to be a step down from Andy Serkis. Like seriously even marvel brought him into avengers age of ultron to help with the stop motion, before deciding to cast him as klaw

@dracula - Yeah, a pity they didn't cast Serkis to play Caesar's son, like how Roddy McDowall played Cornelius and his son, Caesar, in the original movie series.

Still one of the greatest science fiction films ever made. Tension from start to end. No one saw the end coming.

@RolandD - I'd say 55 years is long enough for most people to have caught up with it.

@TheOtherOn - Epic x 100. I'm going to visit that patch of Malibu beach in early March. Can't wait to pound the sand and utter that famous line! lmao.

@ClintThaHamster - I was kidding. I saw the movie on TV in the 70s when I was a kid and absolutely loved the series, although it was probably the best of them.

@GeneralZod - no, I forgot.😂 I actually vaguely remember it.

This is my opening to mention that she’s in Severance in Apple TV+ which is arguably the best show out right now. If you have it or are eligible for a free trial do yourself a favor and watch that, Ted Lasso, and Swan Song

@Ha1frican - I might soon. Might also consider watching Dickinson and Black Bird then, but I don't know if those are any good

@bkmeijer1 - Haven’t gotten to those yet. The ones I have seen are The Foundation and After Party and if you like Sci-go and murder mysteries I’d highly recommend both but Severance and Ted Lasso are the more obvious stand outs imo

@Ha1frican - oh yeah, forgot Apple had The Foundation as well. One of the best sci-fi stories of all time, so I gotta give that a go too.

Don't think I'd be able to watch that many shows in a month though. Still plan to watch Leftovers and catch up on Succession soon as well.

Too much TV, too little time

@bkmeijer1 - Totally fair, I work for Apple so I don’t exactly have to worry about getting charged lol

@Ha1frican - must be nice. Saves atleast on one streaming service. I just alternate between them and get them for just a month.

@bkmeijer1 - I keep my Disney/Hulu year round, resin to HBO max when something good is on and then I backpack someone else’s Netflix lol

@Ha1frican - and then there's Amazon as well. Really too much tv and too little time imo

Haven’t seen her in anything since Dollhouse.
Terrible show, but she outshone Eliza Dushku in that one, so happy to see her again.

@GetsugaTensho22 - She was in Altered Carbon season 1. Pretty good performance. The first season of that show rocks. Haven’t seen the second yet.

@BobbyW - can confirm the 2nd season of AC isn't nearly as good. tells a different story and has it moments, but, wasn't as good, imo

She was also in Agents of Shield
