[Sandra] Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky [George Clooney] in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone–tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

STARRING:

Sandra Bullock as Ryan Stone
George Clooney as Matt Kowalsky

RELEASE DATE: October 4th, 2013.

Still curious what this movie will even be about. It has to be a ton of flashbacks and whatnot and then you switch back to her flying away. Not much can be done once she gets let loose.

I really have no desire to see this movie for a few reasons.

1. I don't see how this movie even has a story because there is no plausible way they can survive this. Also there is just nothing going on they are floating in space in space suits there is just nothing to do.

2. Neither actor to me can pull this kind of movie off. I say this because I have never seen either actor pull off what this movie would require them showing true sense of dread and terror and this have to be some kind of psychological thriller in them trying to survive in the vacuum of space. They are both fine actors just not in this kind of movie. Sure drama, comedy, some action good but nothing I have seen says they can do this. I don't know can anyone recommend a movie where they are in a predicament like this at all.

I feel the only reason they got these two actors was for star power and to give this movie some kind of legs. I still just find this movie completely hollow and I do believe it will fail. Maybe I will be wrong and it will do great but that is what I predict.

@TMP

Ya I see that still seems the biggest complaint is the story and it being weak. Seems it is purely the visual experience and the tone the movie sets that is what is the driving force of the movie.

I realize this movie would never be everyones cup of tea, but I think it's going to be one of those "you just have to see it" movies to fully grasp what Cuaron is going for.
I doubt it would ever pull in blockbuster type money in the first place, but I think it will hold its own and be a small success.

Tell us how you REALLY feel!

I think you're completely wrong on every point.

1. Clooney and Bullock definitely have the acting chops to pull this off. What makes you say the don't?... honestly confused.

2. Just because they don't survive doesn't mean there's no story. I suspect it will be about the character's interactions in the face of death.
