CTV Vancouver Island has covered and confirmed several details regarding our nuclear icon and his film production. One of them being that, the King of the Monsters and his nightmarish nuclear wrath will decimate downtown Nanaimo sometime next week as official shooting begins.
Mid island to provide setting for two Hollywood flicks
CAMPBELL RIVER – After months of escorting location scouts through the best settings the island has to offer, the North Island Film Commissioner is thrilled that at least two major studios have decided to shoot part of their next movies on the mid and north island.
Commissioner Joan Miller says she can’t reveal details about the productions but says the economic impact of the two films plus car commercials that will be shot in the area will have a big impact on the economy.
Doing the math, Miller says one production alone will bring in around 300 people and will be in the region for at least eight days, offering a big boost to hotels in what is normally their off season.
One of the productions will begin shooting in downtown Nanaimo next week and is operating under the code name “Nautilus.” Unit publicist Ernie Malik confirmed two of the stars will be Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston and a computer animated “Godzilla.”
Malik says the harbor city and Victoria will both be used for locations in a four-month production schedule in the province.
Further details are discussed and covered by watching their video telling of the news.
That's all for now, most likely production is being set up right now,
and that they are only shooting officially next week to give them enough time to get everything prepared. As this week draws closer to its own closing, expect to hear news of high levels of radioactivity manifesting in Downtown Nanaimo as we dive into next week.
