@Jollem @Jollem Not to be Mr. Politically correct but it's a wormhole :P

MILD SPOILERS

And while wormholes are just theoretical (As also blackholes which feature heavily in the film, we got some glimpses of it in the trailers), it's specifically specified that a wormhole can't exist naturally. It has to be stabilized... Which leads to some psychedelic gloriousness that pushes sci-fi to it's brink. You'll love it.
