Neil Blomkamp Would Love To Make A "District 10"

According to Fangoria(via firstshowing) the "District 9" director would only be too happy to step back into the world of the Prawns!

With "District 9" making an impressive $37.3 million over the weekend(already more than it cost to make!) and its fairly open ended climax, it was probably already assumed we would see a sequel somewhere down the road. And it looks like we will!

Here's what Blomkamp had to say..be warned, he pretty much reveals a major part of the movie in this short paragraph!

"I'd love to make a sequel, because it's so creatively rewarding to me; there's just something about [the story]," he told Fangoria. "It's my background mixed with the science fiction that I loved. I'd really like to go back to the world of DISTRICT 9—which, without Sharlto's character, would be a very different kind of movie. So I think automatically the two of us will be reunited again, should the public decide that this film is something they want to see and it's successful."

Even if Blomkamp decides not to make a sequel, we will certainly be hearing his name in the very near future as the young director is already being hailed as the next Spielberg or Cameron!

District 9 was one of the best alien movies ever, every aspect of it was great and District 10 would be Bad Ass as well

@ superdog

no, he didn't die...

also, on G4 they were reporting that the studio has already greenlit 2 sequels, and as long as the director wants to make more, the studio is behind it. so it looks like we'll be seeing more!! woo-hoo! this movie rocked!

@ scifi nut

i was thinking the same thing. they come back for the way the prawns are being treated. i don't know if i'd like a war/invasion movie though. this had awesome action, but its SOOOOOOO much more than that. plus the alien's weapons were dominating the humans. it really wouldn't even be a fight.

@Ror, you should edit "male" to "make" in your headline or there could be more punchlines such as "sirprize"

This movie was sick and if they make a sequel, prequel, whatever, it would be even more epic than D-9

LOL @ sirprize. I know he figures you're messing...I read the headlime and at least 30 punchlines came to mind. Haha.

I do hope for a sequel and not a prequel but either would do because my girlfriend and I left pleased with District 9.

@ tyler, we will

a prequel wouldn't be bad either, it could be the arrival of the prawns, since they didn't explain anything about why they came here. (which is my only complaint)

I actually don't want there to be a sequel. I'm afraid it will ruin the first movie. But maybe it won't.

I'm going to dinner. In the mood for seafood.....any suggestions?

Seriously though I'm seeing this movie on Friday. Everyone says it's great so I can't wait. If it's that good why not have a sequel. As long as they can maintain the quality why not want more of a good thing.
