Looks awesome, also my favorite Godzilla film so far, GMK.

@TimL

Bottom line, that's still Godzilla.

@JasonBlue

If you count the other incredibly small few others, then nope.

In terms of kids, that was Emmerich's most well liked see, so no surprise.

@JGAR

Godzilla 2001 was just plain Evil looking (which is why it's my favorite look for G) and the way he tore through the monsters in that movie was just plain nasty.

@Jason Blue

The 1998 film rubbed a lot of ppl that grew up with the Toho version of G the wrong way by having him lay eggs and then get killed off by missiles in the end. The Toho version would have only been annoyed by being shot with missiles, and was more of an unstoppable force of nature. For me, the 1998 movie felt like they were trying to cash in on the success of Jurassic Park.

Confirms PG-13 rating. No one's going to make kids books for an R-rated movie they won't see (hopefully).

Biggest crime of the '98 flick is that it turned Godzilla from a force of nature to a freak of nature. that and the velocizillas. And having half the cast of the Simpsons. And that reporter chick. Okay there were a lot of crimes in that movie. But the freak of nature is the most fundamental thing they did wrong. If they'd just called that movie "The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms" or something else I really wouldn't have minded that movie so much. But they called it Godzilla. You don't have to make it like the Japanese flicks but there are some basic things that are part and parcel to that name.

If you throw out everything about godzilla in the 98' film its a good giant reptile movie. Which my 8 year old self enjoyed!

Godzilla 98 was the Ben Roethlisberger of giant reptile movies.

Kinda looks like a dog, but its a safe design update. It says new, without being too drastic. The 89 film had a drastic design. I actually like that movie tho the last and final acts are bad. It had blockbuster heart.

@mizeatwizad52 thanks for clarifying! I really didn't understand why people hated the 98 Godzilla so much. I guess it makes sense!

Nice to see Godzilla colored grayish green again. Previous pictures had him colored purple, which made him look too much like Barney. I'm actually surprised they didn't try to change him more, but I'm very satisfied overall. ANYTHING is better than TriStar's FRAUDzilla!
