Netflix has announced that the main trailer for the first part of Zack Snyder's sci-fi epic, Rebel Moon, will be released online this Sunday as part of Geeked Week, and the streamer has debuted some new key art spotlighting Kora and her fellow freedom fighters.

A new synopsis for A Child of Fire has also been released, giving us a much better idea of what fans can expect from what sounds like an expansive story.

"After crash landing on a moon in the furthest reaches of the universe, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a stranger with a mysterious past, begins a new life among a peaceful settlement of farmers. But she soon becomes their only hope for survival when the tyrannical Regent Balisarius (Fra Fee) and his cruel emissary, Admiral Noble (Ed Skrein), discover the farmers have unwittingly sold their crops to the Bloodaxes (Cleopatra Coleman and Ray Fisher) — leaders of a fierce group of insurgents hunted by the Motherworld."

"Tasked with finding fighters who would risk their lives to defend the people of Veldt, Kora and Gunnar (Michiel Huisman), a tenderhearted farmer naive in the realities of war, journey to different worlds in search of the Bloodaxes, and assemble a small band of warriors who share a common need for redemption along the way: Kai (Charlie Hunnam), a pilot and gun for hire; General Titus (Djimon Hounsou), a legendary commander; Nemesis (Bae Doona), a master swordswoman; Tarak (Staz Nair), a captive with a regal past; and Milius (E. Duffy), a resistance fighter. Back on Veldt, Jimmy (voiced by Anthony Hopkins), an ancient mechanized protector hiding in the wings, awakens with a new purpose. But the newly formed revolutionaries must learn to trust each other and fight as one before the armies of the Motherworld come to destroy them all."

Snyder has described Rebel Moon as a cross between The Seven Samurai and the Dirty Dozen, so we should probably expect at least a few casualties before all is said and done. Check out the new key art below.

From Zack Snyder, the filmmaker behind 300, Man of Steel, and Army of the Dead, comes REBEL MOON, an epic science-fantasy event decades in the making. When a peaceful colony on the edge of a galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival.

Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Mother World, Kora assembles a small band of warriors — outsiders, insurgents, peasants and orphans of war from different worlds who share a common need for redemption and revenge. As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a battle over the fate of a galaxy is waged, and in the process, a new army of heroes is formed.

The heroes of Rebel Moon are: Kora (Sofia Boutella), an Imperium deserter who leaves the peaceful Veldt to fight back; Kai (Charlie Hunnam), a mercenary pilot whose Tawau-Class freighter will prove invaluable to Kora’s quest; Gunnar (Michiel Huisman), a Veldt farmer who knows little of the galaxy outside of his small, quiet corner of the galaxy; General Titus (Djimon Hounsou), a hardened gladiator who once served the Imperium; Tarak (Staz Nair), a noble indentured servant who shares a bond with a flying creature called a Bennu; Nemesis (Doona Bae), a cyborg sword master whose mechanical hands allow her to wield molten-metal weapons; Darrian Bloodaxe (Ray Fisher), an insurgent who has been harrying the Imperium with guerilla attacks; and Milius (E. Duffy), a refugee who seeks justice for their home — a colony that has already fallen to the Mother World.

Rebel Moon: A Child of Fire hits Netflix on December 22. The sequel, Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scargiver, will debut on April 19, 2024.

Looks like literaly every Zack Snyder movie.
Tons of slow-mo and lots of cringe.

I was interested until I heard Zack said this is connected to the Army of Dead universe. I HATED that movie! His Dawn of the Dead is actually my favorite horror movie too.

@WarMonkey - My favorite part from visionary director Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead were the dead pixels that kept appearing on my 4K tv.

Expecting an entertaining but flawed film. The fact that Zack Snyder has a co-writer may offer a glimmer of hope that it won't be a mess.

I love Snyder's visual style, yeah writing isn't his strong point but I love the look of his movies.

Hopefully, Zack only has an honorary co-writer title and he actually hasn't touched a word from the script. But I doubt it.

Still looking forward to this, but unlike his Darkseid, I haven't forgotten.

Where did all the Zack Snyder fans go? Where did all those fukcin' retards that defended him since 2013, and not a day before, disappear to? You couldn't find these assholes anywhere but an article talking about him, or Marvel. Now they've all vanished.

...

Movie fans are the absolute worst.
