For my next revisit to the Alien and Predator flms, we now journey to the 1997 film Alien Ressurection, which is the 4th film in the Alien film series...

I have to admit, I wasn't really to excited about watching this film over again. While I do like it more than Alien 3 (we'll revisit that film later) I still almost fell asleep while I was watching it. Alien Resurrection was released on November 26, 1997 and was a small success at the Box Office.

The plot is set 200 years after the preceding installment, Alien 3. Ellen Ripley(Weaver) is cloned and an Alien queen is surgically removed from her body. The United Systems Military hopes to breed Aliens to study and research on the spaceship USM Auriga, using human hosts kidnapped and delivered to them by a group of mercenaries. The Aliens escape their enclosures, while Ripley and the mercenaries attempt to escape and destroy the Auriga before it reaches its destination, Earth.

As for the cast, Sigourney Weaver steals the show as Ellen Ripley. Winona Ryder and Ron Perlman manage to deliver decent performances but suffer from a bad script. The rest of the actors are MEH and are just there to get killed off. The Alien designs are pretty good, and the sets are cool to. What I didn't like about the film was the human/alien hybrid. I thought it was stupid and the design looked just plain stupid to me. I also hate how Fox just made this movie to milk the franchise and put it in the hand of an unexperienced French director. I didn't like the dialog either in the movie, some of the actors in this film should just quit acting, because they were horrible in this.

While the movie isn't the best in the film series, I feel this movie is just a waste of time and like I said before, it was made by Fox to milk the Alien franchise. Am I being a bit to harsh on this film? Maybe. But all I see in this film, is a bunch of crap thrown together by Fox.

-1/4 stars-

I actually didn't think this was THAT bad. I enjoyed bits of it. Also, Jean Jeaunet is hardly inexperienced! Plus, Fox distributed the other Alien films, what was their excuse for NOT sucking?
