PACIFIC RIM SYNOPSIS - When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Pacific Rim was directed by Guillermo del Toro, from a script written by Travis Beacham. The cast includes Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman, Max Martini, Robert Kazinsky, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Diego Klattenhoff, and Brad William Henke. Coming to DVD & Blu-ray October 15th!

Has anyone seen it on home 3D yet? I'm guessing a 60' will be needed to get a true PR chubby while viewing.

The one plot hole that bothered me in the film was the fact that they used helicopters to transport the Jagers. Those bad boys were bigger than a supertanker and I don't know of any helicopter that could pick up one of those let alone a Jager. There was plenty of the Del Toro humor that reminded me of the Hell Boy films. Still a great homage to the Japanese Super Robot genre.

Here's another problem I had with the movie.

From when Stacker Pentecost takes Rally (spelling) on a tour of the Shatter Dome, showing him the 4 Jaegers left, to when we see some jaeger vs. kaiju action is a full 45 minutes !

That is a huge gap of no monster vs. robots in a movie thats supposed to be robots fighting monsters.

I got the DVD and just skip to all the action parts, human interest stuff is weak in it.

Wow, I could've watched more of that. A problem with the Kaiju was it was so dark in most scenes, you couldnt fully appreciate what they looked like.

@ dnno1

The helicopters were a logistical concern but not a "plot hole" because whatever method they used to move the Jaegers, be it helicopters, rockets, or flying eagles, would not change the PLOT.
