Amazon.com are running a deal where the first 5000 customers to pre-order Prometheus on Blu-ray or Blu-ray 3D from yesterday will be eligible to receive a code (valid until August 31st) which can be redeemed for a ticket to see the movie at participating theaters in the US. Still not upgraded to a Blu-ray player? (seriously?!) Well, the deal isn't available for anyone who pre-orders the DVD unfortunately. Currently, there are no details on when the Blu-ray is released or what special features will be contained on the disc. Prometheus a fantastic film (my review will be up here on CBM later today) so this is a deal which is well worth taking advantage of.

In the distant future, two superpowers control Earth and fight each other for all the solar system's natural resources. When one side dispatches a team to a distant planet to terraform it for human colonization, the team discovers an indigenous race of bio-mechanoid killers. Ridley Scott, director of 'Alien' and 'Blade Runner,' returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

Guy Pearce as Stannison

Hey that's cool, I'll spend $45 dollars for a Bly ray to watch a $10 movie...duh

Sorry, $35...but it says "if." So when you preorder, you are playing the lottery. You won't know for 48 hours...

This seems a little backwards to me. Preorder a movie on Bluray that's not even out in theaters yet so you can get a ticket to go see it in theaters when it's released. What if you end up not liking the movie? (Although that's highly unlikely.)

I can go to the theatre and watch it and buy the Blu_ray at Best Buy the day it comes out and still spend less money than this way.

Y'know if the film's good, people are usually willing to pay for both the movie ticket AND the blu ray/dvd.

This just seems a bit desperate.

@Sabconth , I agree this seems desperate. If this film is not a Box success considering they didn't go for a pg-13 rating this could be an effort to secure some $$ they would've made with a lower rating.

I love how not a single person on this site has managed to put the pieces together on this promotion.

Ok, if you preorder the movie then you get a free ticket to see the movie. However once you see the movie, if you didnt like it, all one has to do is go into their Amazon account and hit "cancel preorder". Amazon doesn't charge your card until the movie is actually put on the truck and sent out...and considering that won't happen until October, I'd say you have more than enough time to cancel it.

So, all you guys are bashing the opportunity to see Prometheus for absolutley nothing..Wow, don't you look foolish.
