Ridley Scott has taken his production of
Prometheus to Iceland to film what will equate to about 15 minutes of the movie there. Iceland wont play a huge role in the film with Scott saying,
"It will be 15 minutes in total, if all goes to plan. We are shooting the beginning of time.” Production started today at the foot of Hekla volcano. Also joining Scott in Iceland is some of the films stars.

The recording will last for the next two weeks and will feature Oscar winning actress Charlize Theron and X-Men hero Michael Fassbender. Actress Noomi Rice is also gracing Iceland with her presence over the next fortnight with the film crew, who will also be filming at the Dettifoss waterfall — Europe’s most powerful by volume of water.

Scott explained his choice of using Iceland by saying,
"It is possible to find similar landscapes elsewhere in the world, but here it is so rough and ‘Jurassic-like’ and that proved decisive. Iceland is a massively beautiful country."
Prometheus will hit theaters on June 8th, 2012!
