Rogue One: A Star Wars Story director Gareth Edwards has signed on to helm a new, original sci-fi film called True Love for New Regency, with Tenet star John David Washington set to play the lead.
The plot remains mostly shrouded in mystery, and aside from the title, all we have to go on is Deadline's report that it'll be "a near future sci-fi story." Edwards is writing the script, and will also produce alongside Kiri Hart.
Edwards, who also directed the 2014 Godzilla reboot, is said to have been circling quite a few high-profile projects over the past couple of years (there were rumors that he may have had discussions with Marvel Studios at one point), before finally settling on True Love as his next gig.
Washington, meanwhile, recently starred alongside Zendaya in Malcolm and Marie, and has been busy working with the likes of Robert De Niro, Margot Robbie and Christian Bale shooting David O. Russell's Canterbury Glass since late last year.
It's a shame we don't know a little more about this one, but any project from Edwards is always worth keeping an eye on. Stay tuned for updates on True Love as we have 'em.
