Due to the ongoing WGA strike, both Marvel Studios and DC Studios will be skipping San Diego Comic-Con next week, but that doesn't necessarily mean the weekend will be entirely uneventful as, for the first time ever, one of the biggest Indian films of 2024 is set to launch its official trailer during the annual event.
Variety has confirmed that Project K, an upcoming sci-fi epic directed by Nag Ashwin (Mahanati), will reveal its full title, official release date, and first footage on Thursday, July 20 during their Hall H presentation, "This is Project K: First Glimpse of India’s Mytho-Sci-fi Epic," with stars Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, and Deepika Padukone in attendance.
The trio will also perform one of the film's songs on the biggest SDCC stage imaginable, so Hall H attendees are in for an absolute show.
“We are thrilled to present ‘Project K”s debut at San Diego Comic-Con. India’s storytelling tradition has ancient roots, with its epics serving as the origins for many civilizations worldwide. A world as big as this needs a platform as big to introduce it to the people. Comic-Con felt like the perfect place, where the honesty and enthusiasm needed for ‘Project K’ will be found.” said Ashwin in a statement to the trade earlier this week.
Amitabh Bachchan and Disha Patani will also star in the film, but are not expected to be in attendance.
Project K was tentatively scheduled to hit theaters on May 9, 2024; but it looks like a new date will be announced on Thursday.
