First STAR TREK: DISCOVERY Image Features Sonequa Martin-Green And Some Intriguing Clues

The first official image from Star Trek: Discovery has been revealed, but it won't be what you expected! Rather than being on the bridge of the Discovery, we're taken to a mysterious alien world.

Star Trek: Discovery hasn't had the easiest journey to the small screen, but things finally seem to be coming together for the CBS All Access series. Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we have a first look at Michelle Yeoh as Captain Philippa Georgiou and Sonequa Martin-Green as First Officer Michael Burnham in the show, but this isn't your typical shot from a Star Trek TV show or movie, that's for sure.

That probably has something to do with the fact that as well as shooting in a Toronto studio, Star Trek: Discovery has also filmed scenes in Jordan. As you can see, Burnham is wearing what appears to be both an old-school communicator and what seems to be a tricorder too (both make sense considering the fact that this show is going to serve as a prequel of sorts to the original 1966 Star Trek series).

Love Trek, but not sure about this. Why go back so far? Much more interesting stores and eras to be in. I'd love a crack at writing a Trek series.
