George Takei Wants "Star Peace"; Declares TWILIGHT A Common Enemy Of TREK And WARS Fans

Responding to the back and forths between William Shatner and Carrie Fisher as to which STAR franchise is best, Takei has released this video calling for all fans to recognize the true enemy: Sparkling vampires..

I must say I have really been enjoying the Shatner/Fisher video war. As far as I can see it's fairly obvious that their arguments as to the merits of their respective Star franchises are more than a little tongue in cheek, even with the occasional barbed digs. And now George Takei, who played Sulu in the original Star Trek series, has followed suit and responded with this video..

Mr Takei, how can we argue with that? Here are the digs he makes at Twilight, which are imo spot on..

"Gone is any sense of heroism, camaraderie or epic battle. In its place we have vampires that sparkle, moan and go to high school. Sci-fi fans be warned, there are no great stories, characters or profound life lessons to be found in Twilight... In Twilight, the only message that rings through loud and clear is: 'Does my boyfriend like me?'"

Wait, isn't the true enemy of Star Wars and Star Trek fans present day George Lucas? After all, Trekkies don't like him for still making Star Wars relevant with the prequel movies and Wars fans hate the guy for making their favorite franshise crap with the prequel series (as well as DVD edits).

Plus what Takei said here was a bit off:
"Gone is any sense of heroism, camaraderie or epic battle. In its place we have vampires that sparkle, moan and go to high school. Sci-fi fans be warned, there are no great stories, characters or profound life lessons to be found in Twilight... In Twilight, the only message that rings through loud and clear is: 'Does my boyfriend like me?'"
Wait, so now we all are forgeting that these comic book movies ever exist right now. I may have respect for Takai and little respect for Twilight; but c'mon, how are these vampire movie exactly dominating entertainment compare to the number of comic book movies? Am I in an alternate universe again?

Clap Clap Clap, Well done George (I'm Pro-Starwars btw)

Lets face it twilight is a downer the biggest question being: Did I just get my period or is my Boyfreind hungry?

All this coming out of Sulu's mouth just makes it a thousand times funnier. LMAO.

STAR TREK > STAR WARS

You know what the bad thing about taking your girl to watch Thor, CA, Xmen, and other movies earlier this year? They make you go with them to watch dumb movies like Twilight, lol.

i love star wars more than star trek,but saying that i do like three of the movies & borg episodes.

well said mr takei,twilight is aimed teenage girls were 99% of everything else vampire related is aimed at adults.

thank f*ck this shit ends soon.

@BigK1337

That crappy franchise's new film probably outsold all the comic book movies this year combined. I see that as a huge problem.

Takei? So there is still some sane reasoning in the captain of the USS Excelsior. I agree with him. Our celestial bound should rise against the power of the glittered teen macabre known as Twilight.

If one franchise is any more un-inspiring to our young people than this please let me know. Star Trek and Star Wars inspires imagination to propel the worlds of exploration and innovation. Smokey and the Bandit offers more of a lesson to its viewers than Twilight.

@VikingPatar

Not really, all the comic book movies this year combine (minus Green Lantern) did better than the recent Twilight in terms of both box office and ratings. Yeah, not a big problem.

@plasticman

Those crappy parody movies written by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer? All those Tyler Perry movies dealing with Madea? The prequel Star Wars (its worse then Twilight, because it is bastardizing a great franchise)? The Saw films after Saw 3?

But yeah other than that, there isn't anything worse or equivalent to the Twilight series' crappiness in films.

BigK1337 - 12/12/2011, 12:54 PM
@KNIGHT3000

Sooo, that means you don't see Twilight as threat; which pretty much suits what I am trying to say.
BigK1337
BigK1337 - 12/12/2011, 12:57 PM
@KNIGHT3000

But that doesn't excuse the fact that there are still worst movies than Twilight (seriously, saying those shitty parody films are better than Twilight is ridiculous considering how bad the jokes are).

I agree,the Twilight franchise should be kicked in the sparkly a** and stabbed in its pretentious heart with a stake,and then burn and bury the remains.

I've always enjoyed both Star Trek (especially the original series)and Star Wars, and always thought fighting over which was better was really silly and pointless. Why do you have to choose one and hate the other? All you're doing is ignoring the chance to enjoy a great franchise.

It will stop when the last movie come out (which will definately be the end for that series seeing that it can't do shit against the likes of The mother[frick]ing Hobbit).
