It's with a heavy heart that we must report that actor Anton Yelchin has died at the age of 27.

TMZ reports that Yelchin was found at his home pinned by his own vehicle and a brick mailbox early Sunday morning. The police do not suspect any foul play was involved. His car was in neutral and the engine was still running when his body was discovered. His driveway is also said to be on a steep incline. An LAPD spokesperson later told The Hollywood Reporter: "It appears he momentarily exited his car and it rolled backward, causing trauma that led to his death."

His publicist released the following statement: “Actor Anton Yelchin was killed in a fatal traffic collision early this morning, his family requests you respect their privacy at this time.”

Yelchin was best known for his role as Pavel Chekov in the current Star Trek trilogy and as Kyle Reese in Terminator Salvation. His promising career also featured credits in a wide range of films including Fright Night, Green Room, The Driftless Area, Burying the Ex, Rudderless, The Smurfs 2, Like Crazy, Charlie Bartlett, Odd Thomas, and Alpha Dog. He also recently completed work on the indies We Don't Belong Here, Rememory, and Porto, which are all due out later this year.

Yelchin, an only child, is survived by his parents.

Our deepest condolences.

So James Wan comes on to direct Furious 7, and Paul Walker dies ina car crash, Wan has to finish the movie under these circumstances.

Justin Lin, director of multiple Fast and Furious installments comes in to direct Star Trek Beyond and Anton Yelchin dies in a car crash, which Lin now has to finish under these circumstances.

Granted, Star Trek is out next month and should be finished, if not very close but it's a weird coincidence.

R.I.P., guy was great in the role, and a fantastic actor overall.

@Alex909 - This is more akin to Heath Ledger than it is to Paul Walker and/or Brandon Lee. Reshoots would've been done a long time ago if they needed them. Star Trek Beyond will have the complete performance of Anton Yelchin, the projects he was signed for/currently working on are the ones in a tough position.

However, future Star Trek movies might have me worried - I'd rather not see the current crew continue on without Chekov (or even think of recasting him) so maybe the new TV show should be the new icon of Star Trek rather than continue on with the reboot films.

So sad, I loved him in Fright Night, only horror remake that worked. Also best part of Salvation, and Love him in Star Trek.

Always thought he'd make a good Tim Drake
