The first trailer for highly-anticipated second season of CBS All-Access' Star Trek: Discovery is now online.

The action-packed footage spotlights the debut of Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount), who will leave the U.S.S. Enterprise to take command of the Discovery. Plus, it looks like iconic Trek character Mr. Spock won't just be hinted at and will actually be making an appearance.

In addition, original Mystique actress Rebecca Romijn has revealed that she's joined the cast as Captain Pike's "Number One", who was played by Majel Barrett-Roddeberry in the original Star Trek pilot.

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think. Star Trek: Discovery returns early next year.

Jon Schnepp has passed away. Really sad news. He seemed like a genuinely good guy.

Hey, I didn't know Mount was playing Pike. Damn. Also, Romijn is a beast when she wants to be. My only concern is the leadership shake-up, but I quite liked the first season.

The first season was pretty good! I like all the characters, the acting is good and the effects are amazing! I JUst hate the fact that Its set before the original series. I would much rather see a continuation of the universe than a forced prequel

Watched the trailer five times. I've been a "Star Trek" geek for 45 years and this got me stoked! Is Dr. Boyce going to be on the show making his icy martinis?

Looks good. Except the Lenny Kravitz music is completely out of place.
