I am not going to see this. I'd be happier just watching the old episodes instead of this Michael Bay type remake. BRING BACK SHATNER!!!

I do believe in the
"Every second movie sucks" thing though. only question is does this fall in the slot of suck?

This isn't supposed to be "as good" as the original Star Trek, nor is it supposed to be anything like the movies since Shatner stepped down. However, as time goes by, new ideas will drive these types of "prequels" and different directors will have different movies. Perfect example: Tim Burton's Batman vs Chris Nolan's Batman. Both are great, but you can't compare either to the other. Same thing will go with this movie. Take it for what it is, another story from a different person.

is that sylar from heroes playing the pointy eared dude? i think that star wars is recent enough that it wount be remade for a long long time. i would love to see a remake of the wizard of oz movie. it would be nice to see a movie that follows the book for once. i'd prefer that it not have singing munchkins. some people dont even know it was a book first which is like "wow, you're not smart". and it certainly was not a bright cheery musical either. it was a dark story that was based in a dangerous world (not a dream like the movie). the problem is, that if they ever made a true to original book version, it would be hugely criticized regardless of whether or not it was a good flick. just because it's not like the original movie, doesnt necisarily it will be bad. maybe ill write and pitch a script to MGM.

I can take a diff story from a diff director, but I am really want to get passed, spock, picard, kirk, riker, & move to something else in this universe. Same as Star Wars, move pass skywalker & darth Vader. But I am a trekkie & would love to see something fresh. May with the Q, or even Jemhadar, or even the Orion Syndicate.

im not a trekkie but i loved the original series so im looking forward to this. the other shows had no sense of humour, the entire cast walked around with poles up their asses..this at least looks like it wont take itself TOO seriously

That is a great point spock. I would love to see something else for a change. Granted, the Enterprise is what started it all, but that doesn't mean they can't expand on the rest of the lore. I would love to see the beginnings of the Borg, or a movie about pre-warp earth leading up to First Contact. Not sure how we go from Star Trek to Wizard of Oz, but a Star Trek/Star Wars movie offset from the mainstream story might actually be a good movie, especially since there is so much information available to be able to make a great and thorough movie.

Hey Gunsmith, i'm actually concerned about the track record. Every good trekker knows that the odd number of star trek movies failed at the box office. It's the odd-number ST movie curse. I'm hoping this film, being number 11, can break free of it tho. ;)

I'm happy to get anything in the ST universe right now, especially not complaining about a movie with Leonard Nimoy himself in it. A prequal about the TOS crew is better than a sequal, at any rate. I hope this movie will appeal to the general public and gain enough popularity for another ST series or more movies, or something trek-like in the current mainstream media. I'm sick of this Twilight/Harry Potter/High School Musical craze that is so famous with middle and high school kids.

First off the Enterprise was built in a space dock over Mars and not on the ground on Earth. Second Capt. Kirk never did like his middle name and just said James T. Kirk (that was also Gene hadn't thought of a middle name for a while with the first Star Trek)And as I stated before Capt. Christopher Pike was the first captain of the Enterprise not Kirk. This is giving me a headache. Beam me up Scotty I quit
