AVENGERS: ENDGAME Star Chris Evans Shares Hopes To Join A Future STAR WARS Movie Or TV Show

After heading to Infinity and Beyond in Lightyear, Avengers: Endgame star Chris Evans has shared his hopes to go from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to a Galaxy Far, Far Away by joining a Star Wars project.

Chris Evans said goodbye to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with 2019's Avengers: Endgame. The actor played Captain America for close to a decade, and while the hope is that he will eventually return as Steve Rogers at some point, Evans is currently shaking up his career with some very different roles.

He's played a despicable a**hole in Rian Johnson's Knives Out, made a surprise appearance in Free Guy, and most recently lent his voice to Buzz in Pixar's Lightyear

Ahead of a villainous turn in The Gray Man for the Russo Brothers, MTV News (via SFFGazette.com) caught up with the actor to discuss where his career could be heading next and learned he would be open to heading into a Galaxy Far, Far Away. "God, would I love to be in Star Wars! I mean I would do anything. Even if I was just a stormtrooper, I'd be thrilled."

"Yeah, I'll take a Wookie though, that's fine," he continued. "Just put me in. I'll do it. I'll take it."

Despite spending a huge chunk of his career in the MCU, the former Captain America clearly isn't against the idea of taking on another blockbuster role. It would be a blast seeing him take a crack at Star Wars, and whether it's a hero or villain, there's no doubt a lot he could bring to this franchise whether it's on the big or small screen.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is developing a Star Wars movie for Lucasfilm, while Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi is also set to take the helm of a separate big screen project. With that in mind, there could be ample opportunities for Evans in this iconic Galaxy.

Oh Chris.

Your not Captain America in these movies. Hence…nobody cares.

You may not realize it. But you are systematically being steered back to the MCU…like so many “stars” before you that thought they didn’t need it.

Welcome back to Captain America 5 circa 2025.

🇺🇸.

@KingGeorgeTheMa - it’s more a statement on the movie going public than Evans himself. He’s been boxed in and now you see with the box office collapse of “light year” and him not really having any movies of substance nor his directing career taking off. The audiences have abandoned him when he’s not wearing the tights and the studios are not rubber stamping his projects when he’s not wearing the tights.

@IronGenesis - light year didn't fail because of Chris Evans though. It failed because this movie should have premiered on disney+, not in the theatres

@Vigor - That is probably true. But we have this knack for attaching the rising star of an actor to a hot film they are in.

Your the lead in a film that does $$$$. Suddenly you get hot and you get more opportunities.

Even though, if we are being honest, the actual actor in that staring vehicle is really just along for the ride and 20-30 other actors could have been in the same role with the same good $$$& results.

@IronGenesis - Chris was in movies before marvel.

Sure, his most successful film was marvel but he has been in other successful films.

@Vigor - a Lightyear movie not premiering in theaters? Why not? Is that the excuse you people are using for how badly that pile of garbage imploded?

Actors should continue insulting the fans of movies....it's working out so well for them isn't it?

Toblakai
Toblakai - 6/21/2022, 10:43 PM
@AmazingFILMporg - which had very little to do with him. 40 different actors could have played his role. Zero people went to that movie because Evans was in it.

Hie career pre MCU and post MCU have been the same....thoroughly mediocre.

Vigor
Vigor - 6/22/2022, 8:17 AM
@Toblakai - the movie looks like a low rate toy story spin off. In this economy and the state of the movie industry, it doesn't feel like movie theater "worthy". I had zero interest in seeing it. Now had it premiered on disney+ that mah be diffierent..

Besides why are we talking about an animated movie in relation to real life actors? It's just their voice. Seems a little silly to judge Chris Evans on lightyear don't you think?
Toblakai
Toblakai - 6/22/2022, 4:19 PM
@Vigor - I don't judge him just on Lightyear.....I judge him in all the stupidity and braindead shit he spews out of his glory hole
Vigor
Vigor - 6/22/2022, 5:24 PM
@Toblakai - why do I have a feeling your problem with him is political in nature
Toblakai
Toblakai - 6/22/2022, 10:27 PM
@Vigor - I ha e a problem with all actors that spew uninformed, jingoistic stupidity.....regardless of what side they're on. It just so happens that in 2022 the only half baked morons blathering about politics are leftoid idiots like Evans and Ruffalo.

They are obviously entitled to express their opinion. Just like I'm entitles to call them low IQ tribalist scumbags.

Think it would be fun if he gets a role in Waititi's Star Wars movie, if that ever comes to fruition. Same with Brie Larson (who's also been vocal about wanting to do Star Wars).
Spock0Clock
Spock0Clock - 6/21/2022, 11:26 AM
@bkmeijer1 - I'm a simple man. I just want a Mandalorian War movie with Evans as Revan and Larson as Meetra Surik. Sort of a prequel to KotOR (but maybe also do a slightly loose adaptation KotOR / KotOR 2 in sequels if the project works). Chris Revans would have an opportunity to show more of that tortured Snowpiercer vibe. Oh! And Olivia Colman as Kreia!

I'll just edit in some off-the-cuff ideas here: Do it like the Iliad. Open on the last year of the 16-year Mandolorian War, with the fall of Revan to the dark side as the emotional flashpoint, similar to the rage of Achilles.

@bkmeijer1 -
Star Wars has like 12 projects on the horizon but each is gathering less attention and causing more controversy within the fanbase. I'm not sure it'll get to the point where we see a Taika film and including Brie would be financial suicide.

bkmeijer1 - 6/21/2022, 11:55 AM
@Spock0Clock - scrap what I said, your idea sounds way better. Could maybe see Larson as Bastila Shan as well to be honest
