i think is awesome that there gunna go into detail about the sith for a change, maybe they could do like a flasback episode showing the beginning of the sith order or maybe knights of the old republic :)

I'm really sick of these adjective names that directly say what the character represents:

Savage Opress = he's savage and he'll oppress you
Maul = he'll maul you
Grievous = grievous (Causing grief, pain, or anguish)
Sidious = insidious
1. Proceeding in a gradual, subtle way, but with harmful effects
2. Treacherous; crafty

@gunsmith,

That isn't canon, but still a good what if story.

Actually no gunsmith, he did not survive. That was from a non-canon comic book story by Dark Horse called "Old Wounds". Like Yogi said, it was a good "what if" story.

WHY? Look I love Darth Maul as much as the next SW dork. But I never felt like seeing his origin would make the story any deeper. Some origins are better left unrevealed.
I love Boba Fett but I don't want to know he's some kid with a grudge against the Jedi. Isn't he cooler as a badass bounty hunter with a mystery shrouded past ?
Vader made sense, because that's a story that had been building up since episode 1. This is pandering to the fans and not serving the story as a whole.

@ betarayb

yeah man, like Xenix said, thats the whole point of their TITLES. No need to get so bent out of shape, its not like its their real names, their titles are like that for a reason, and have something to do with their character...

@ spiderman620

They didn't get his color wrong, that picture just isn't Darth Maul. Its this Opress character that the story is about. The face tattoos are all wrong for Maul too.

m73 - Vader means "Father" and Darth comes from "dark".

Makes you wonder if Sidious knew he (argueably) wasn't the chosen one but would father the chosen one, as he named him Dark Father?

This is fantastic! I love it when things are milked and milked. It's fun as long as you remember they can't take your childhood away.

@ YogiDonnie : Oh yes, maul's return to life is cannon, but not the version with the robotic legs...Maul's doppleganger even went on to fight Vader (one of the best SW comics I've ever read, btw). The Prophets of the Dark Side managed to bring him back to life.

The version with the robotic lower-half appeared in the non-cannon comic short story called 'Old Wounds', one that I'd highly recommend reading; it's a great story about the furious hate the Maul had in tracking down Obi-Wan and trying to avenge...himself.

As to the 'Darth' names...there's Darth Nihilus, Darth Traya, Darth Talon, etc...their names were deliberately selected by the prospective Aprentice's Master to try and create a persona that frightened people sheerly by name alone...

...if someone would tell me that 'Lord Maul' was coming for me, I'd be on the first transport to the Outer Rim!
