J.J. Abrams Knows Who Rey's Parents Are; Says He's "Very Much Excited" For STAR WARS: VIII

Director J.J. Abrams did his part and created a successful new film in the Star Wars franchise. Now, we look ahead to the future, and hope that Rian Johnson can do the same thing with next film. In a recent interview, Abrams revealed that he knows "quite a bit" about the next Star Wars films...

J.J. Abrams recently attended the Television Critics Association’s press tour. While he was there, the 49-year old director revealed that he knows who Rey's parents are. "I know quite a bit," he told the reporters at the event. "Obviously it’s not for me to talk about in this moment because this is Rian’s story to continue now. The last thing I’m going to do is reveal something that he would be upset about. I want to make sure that Rian gets the courtesy that he showed me."

Shortly after that, he then revealed how excited he is for Star Wars: Episode VII. "My enthusiasm for Episode VIII is enormous! I’m very much excited for and very jealous of anyone, especially Rian, who gets to work so closely with this extraordinary cast and crew, truly an amazing group." Abrams then said he's glad that he was given the opportunity to direct a Star Wars film. "In that regard for sure, but I’m also relieved to have gotten a chance to do a Star Wars movie."

One of the most heart-breaking moments in Star Wars: The Force Awakens came in the scene with Han Solo and Kylo Ren (Ben Solo). Abrams spoke on that, and revealed why he decided to kill off the War Hero (or the Smuggler). "We knew we needed to do something that was bold and maybe unexpected." What do you think about Abrams' thoughts? Are you excited to see the next installment in the franchise? I know I am! Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

Would love if it turned out to be Lando that's her dad and one of the other two chicks in the SW-universe that is white, to be her mom. Makes Rey a halfie.

It probably will be Luke.

LMFAO!

Haha that's great!

Hmmm....If Snoke was her father, that'd be a great homage to Empire, and if they do it really well, it could be one of the greatest moments in film history. Hell, it'd even explain why she's so great in the Force all-of-a-sudden.

Better not be a [frick]ing Skywalker.

I'd actually love it if Finn was Luke's bastard son.

Han Solo's death: bold? Sure. Unexpected? Nowhere close.

Don't get me wrong, it was still a little gut-wrenching to watch it happen, but it was telegraphed from light years away ;)

@YeezusWept

Rey is/will be a Skywalker. My guess... But would be awesome if Finn is somehow related to Lando!

We all assume it's Luke, but J.J doesn't actually use the word "father." For all we know it could be just a mother. So until it's confirmed I think you should change the title to read, "J.J. Abrams Knows Who Rey's Parents Are." Just so that no one comes here thinking it's all but confirmed when it isn't.

YOU GUYS REALIZE THE STAR WARS SAGA IS ABOUT THE SKYWALKER LINEAGE... So to say your sick of the sky walkers means you shouldn't watch the rest of this trilogy.
If you must watch star wars with out Skywalkers then wait for the Han Solo movie, Rogue 1 or just watch Star Trek the boring version of StarWars.

@Nomis

Ford gave away that this movie was his send off in an interview before the movie came out. If some people read between the lines you saw this coming. I wish he would've went out with more of a bang but i didn't mind how they went about it.

@slickrickdesigns

You're right, but I think there's more to Rey than Luke specifically being her father. It's far too obvious and far too reminiscent of Empire.

Good point! Changing it now! :)

@MattBellissimo

I hear you, but I think everyone is reading into everything starWars too much. People came up with preconceived notions as to what TFA was going to be and some were disappointed, but if you look at the movie they played it safe and kept to continuing the old story with somewhat of a new story. I don't think they are going to make it too complicated in ep. VIII to keep on the safe side. But it would be cool if they threw some plot twists that make sense our way in the next movie.
Maybe Rey is the product of Jedi Sex... We will find out Luke banged a Jedi lady and had Rey and when Kylo killed the new Jedi's he killed Rey's mom. Just guessing of course.

I'm standing by the theory that Rey is either genetically engineered by Snoke from Vader's DNA, or that she is a reincarnation of Vader (which allows her to tap into all of the memories and experiences of her past life). She'll be a Skywalker alright, the big reveal will be that she technically is LUKE'S father.

I'll laugh so hard if her father is dead and it's actually her mother who is of significance.

Unlikely, but....
