Kushins tells Wired.com, "This is, of course, completely false. George Lucas has plenty of projects to keep him busy right now — including plenty of Star Wars projects — but there are no new Star Wars feature films planned.”
Wired.com adds, "Both the IESB website and the official Star Wars forums were experiencing technical problems Saturday afternoon, possibly due to overwhelming interest in the rumor."
A BIT OF EDITORIALIZING: If -- and that's a big if -- the IESB rumor is true, it means that the first of this proposed trilogy wouldn't reach theatres for another nine years. There are some people who believe that IESB.net posted the rumor as a means of generating traffic. It should be pointed out that several years ago the site bent over backwards with rumors generated no where else that Tom Welling would be playing Superman on the big screen. Even when the producers of Smallville refuted the claim -- and yours truly interviewed executive producer Alfred Gough on the subject -- the rumors continued to the point where it genuinely got ridiculous and given the sheer quantity of user feedback, it SEEMED that those rumors, too, were geared towards increasing traffic. No proof of this, but this Star Wars rumor doesn't seem credible. Again, just a purely personal observation.
