Lucasfilm Has Reportedly Canceled Tatooine Set STAR WARS Spinoff Movie

There have been rumblings that Lucasfilm was developing a Star Wars Story set in Mos Eisley but it now sounds as if plans for that have been scrapped following Solo's disappointing performance...

Rumour has it that Disney has put the brakes on all upcoming Star Wars movies as Lucasfilm goes back to the drawing board in an attempt to figure out what went wrong with Solo: A Star Wars Story earlier this year. That means the likes of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi will have to continue waiting for their respective spinoffs, while other projects have seemingly been scrapped altogether for the time being.

One of them includes a Tatooine-set movie which would have reportedly revolved around the Mos Eisley spaceport. We don't know if it would have featured new or existing characters but it's fair to say the movie might have had some potential, especially if the Hutts had also been thrown into the mix.

During a recent interview, Solo production designer Neil Lamont confirmed that the movie has been put on hold and it really doesn't sound like it's still happening. "We were just starting our work on another Star Wars spinoff and yeah. We were actually just making our mark on Tatooine -- which would have been interesting and some other new galaxies. So hopefully, if that comes back, we'll get the chance to be able to do that further." So, the future doesn't look too bright for it right now then!

Are you disappointed that this Star Wars spinoff is seemingly no longer happening or is it for the best?

This was the one Star Wars movie I just thought sounded dumb as hell.

I mean if you wanted to explore the world of Mos Eisley more then that could have naturally occurred in a Boba Fett movie and/or Obi-wan movie and/or in what would have been Solo 2. Or if you wanted to take a real close look at the underworld dealings it seems that a TV show would work much better. Unless Mos Eisley was code for some big movie that would have brought Han Solo, Boba Fett, Chewbacca, Greedo, Lando, Jabba and whoever else they wanted.

@TheUnworthyThor - You are correct, it is probably the central hub of the star wars underworld. Any spin offs (or sequel films, it still exists) could use it.

Canceling dumb movies is a good idea that Warner Bros. doesn't seem to consider.
