It's been 30 years since we last saw Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) use the force in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. We caught a glimpse of Luke at the end of Star Wars: The Force Awakens as Rey (Daisy Ridley) caught up with the once savior of the galaxy to hand him his father's lightsaber, but just how much has Luke changed since his battle with Darth Vader and the Emperor? According to a reddit user, Luke's power has reached Vader-level proportions in the most awesome way by the time we see him in Episode VIII.

"Here's the saucy bit: A few weeks ago they blew up-- specifically, blew apart-- an Ahch-To hut. According to my source, Kylo and Rey have a conversation that Luke does not like. Luke tries to stop them. Luke gets angry... and the whole hut they are in disintegrates (re: 'blows up'). My source did not specify as to the exact cause of the disintegration, but based on the info I believe Luke accidentally (or perhaps even purposely) does so using the Force."

This sounds incredible! Of course, this must be taken with a grain of salt just as every rumor should, but a scene like this would blow everyone's mind. It's fair to say that in The Force Awakens the usage of the force was all over the place, but now it sounds like director Rian Johnson is taking an epic approach when it comes to the force powers and is exploring what the force is truly capable of.

It also seems like Johnson might be taking a page out of the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II book with a scene like this. If you're not familiar with the game, the protagonist Galen Marek was known to have such great force power that he could disintegrate anything in his path. Take a look at the old cinematic TV spot below to see what we might be in store for. Are you excited to see just how powerful Luke Skywalker is in Episode VIII?
