Qi'ra recently returned in the pages of Marvel Comics' Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters. Set prior to the events of Return of the Jedi, the comic confirms that she survived her working relationship with Maul, but still leaves fans in the dark about what happened to her after Solo: A Star Wars Story concluded.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, it was put to actress Emilia Clarke that it may have been Qi'ra who tipped off Enfys Nest in a bid to escape Dryden Voss' control. Of course, that backfired when she found herself speaking to Maul, but she still managed to go from being an underling to reporting directly to the man in charge of Crimson Dawn.
Clarke likes the idea, but has her own take on Qi'ra's thought process during the 2018 movie.
"I wrote pages about Qi’ra - behind-the-scenes Qi’ra - and all of the other stuff that was going on. But I think it is only when she sees Han that she realizes that there is a way out. That’s what I was playing," the Game of Thrones alum explains. "That’s definitely where I was at. I don’t think she felt herself to be strong enough at that point to go on and escape Dryden’s grip. I think that Han is the slap around the face that made her go, '(Gasps) I was a whole person. I was this other thing. Where have the last 3 years gone?' So it was that kind of thing."
As for whether she would like to see Qi'ra's story continue, Clarke added: "I really had pages about what her life was and what it would be afterwards. I’m afraid I’ve heard nothing of [Disney+] being the case, so maybe I’ll just write it and send it to them. I’ll be like, 'Hey guys, I’ve got a few ideas.'"
When it was put to her that there's still room to expand on the character's story, the actress agreed, and told the trade, "She’s the one that has the most unfinished business."
Do you think we could see more of Qi'ra in a future Star Wars movie or TV series?
