STAR WARS: At Least Three New Movies Expected To Be Announced At Celebration London

We haven't taken a trip to the Galaxy Far, Far Away on the big screen since The Rise of Skywalker, but Lucasfilm is expected to officially announced at least three new Star Wars movies at Celebration.

The underperformance of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and standalone adventure Solo: A Star Wars Story led to Disney/Lucasfilm scaling back on big-screen adventures in the Galaxy Far, Far Away, but it's beginning to sound like the studio is finally getting its act together.

We were expecting to learn more about Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's mysterious project (which recently lost Damon Lindelof and gained Steven Knight) next month at Star Wars Celebration London, but Jeff Sneider has heard that we'll actually be getting three Star Wars movie announcements at the event.

If we had to hazard a guess, we'd say the other two are the films Taika Waititi and Shawn Levy have lined up, but with the latter busy working on Deadpool 3, there's a chance Lucasfilm will unveil a brand-new project we haven't heard anything about yet.

Plot details are being tightly guarded until Celebration, but we have heard that at least one of these movies will focus on a character or characters from the sequel trilogy. Rey (Daisy Ridley) seems to be the prevailing theory, but we could also see Finn (John Boyega) and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) back in action.

Sneider has also heard that the planned Indiana Jones Ravenwood spin-off TV series has been scrapped, because Disney has told Lucasfilm to keep its focus on Star Wars going forward (he believes this may have had something to so with Willow's recent cancellation).

What would you like this next era of Star Wars movies to focus on?

Im guessing tha Taika film will be shelved due to TLaT.

Might as well get The Daniels for a film or even a trilogy if Disney was able to invite them for an ep of Skeleton Crew

How about No. Seriously tell nothing until Cameras are rolling and stop announcing shit that's years away from even production.

@BGarlz92 -

Even when cameras are rolling it still has a chance of being derailed. Remember solo? Even other studios scrap films that are 95% finished like the Batgirl film😐

Nothing is safe😐

@AmazingFILMporg - I don't think it would be good, Lucasfilm has a bad trend of interference. But if camera are at least rolling we can imagine something will come of it.

I loved Rey in ep 7 because I thought she would actually be given character traits and a backstory later on. Turns out they had nothing, made her perfect at everything and tacked on a lame Palpatine connection because the writers were devoid of any creativity.

Does Star Wars really need to keep following the episodic trilogy structure moving forward when it comes to its "main" story? I get that it's tradition, but it's not necessarily the most optimal storytelling structure. The MCU -for all of its faults- did wonders during the infinity saga with a more flexible approach. Not all heroes had trilogies. Some had less, others had more. It was ultimately planned to serve the overarching story first and foremost. I think it would benefit Star Wars to take a page out of that book.

@Fares - I’ve always wondered why so many movie franchises get planned out in trilogies. It’s odd.

@Shivermetimbers - Most stories are written in three arcs. Beginning, middle, end.

Lucasfilm: “Oh, all those movies are cancelled.”

Gee, I hope it's Rian Johnson's trilogy, that was SUCH a good idea !

Okay, okay, in all seriousness...

...More like STAR WARS: At Least Three New Movies Expected To Be Cancelled by End of Year.

They had better wait until they have a trailer to show for it. I cannot care for all these "announced project" for which we won't get a crumb of info until at least three years from now, that is if they are not pushed back or canned.

Some wishes I'd have:

Movies:
- Star Wars: Episode IX - XI (directed and written by ONE continuous creative team)
1000 years after the Skywalker saga the galaxy has changed, for both better and the worse.
While peace is prevolent, force sensitive people are seperated form their families. Allegedly to guarantee a new Empire from never happening but something more sinister seems to be the case.
Jedi are living hidden, almost like a secret society in this time.
The story focuses on a young woman, saved by her master from being kidnapped uncovering a conspiracy within the new Republic that utilizes grey Jedi to enforce peace.
All the while a more sinister force is brewing in the background and fueling the darkness (Abeloth).
The young jedi along with her master and ragtag crew of scounddrels goes up against a well intentioned but opressive goverment and an ancient evil that has waited eons to devour not only society but the force itself.

- Solo: Reign of the Crimson Dawn
a direct-to-Disney+ movie shot in the Volume finishing up the lose plot threats left open from the first movie. Obviously the budget is cut massively. Simple and quick shoot, think of it as a special presentation to finish up what the first left open.
Han, Chewie and Lando are targeted by Qui'Ra and Maul's syndicate for simply knowing to much. The chase throughout the galaxy ends with Qui'Ra sacrificing herself for Han to fake his death before dying by Maul's hands herself (played by Sam Witwer).

Series:
- The Dashing Adventures of Poe Dameron
A 50s inspired pulp adventure series with Poe Dameron experiencing new adventures every week. Instead of being serialized the episodic storytelling throws Poe into new scenarios and corners of the SW universe.
Heavily influenced by Hercules/Xena

- Skywalker
Just like the Poe Dameron series inspired heavily by the monster-of-the-week concept from Hercules/Xena.
Along with his recurring cast of friends (Han, Leia, Lando, Mara Jade) Luke ventures through the galaxy trying to find and rescue young potential Jedi.

@Blergh - a prequel to Phantom Menace how it all came into play, Jedi vs Sith would be nice too.

@Blergh - for some reason your threequel outline reminds me a lot of the Reapers in Mass Effect.

And that is something I'd definitely wanna see. It's a threat that looms constantly over everything, and everything that is done is in service to building a line of defense against when that threat arrives.

Rise of Skywalker had that massive galaxy destroying threat too (the Xyston fleet), but because it had no build-up it just felt shallow.

Three new movies that will never happen?

Until they are actually filming I refuse to get excited.

-Boba Fett film
-Obi Wan Kenobi film
-Colin Trevarrow’s Duel of the Fates
-Game of Thrones Showrunners films
-Rain Johnson Trilogy
-Patty Jenkin’s Rogue Squandron

And probably even more that I’m forgetting.
