The underperformance of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and standalone adventure Solo: A Star Wars Story led to Disney/Lucasfilm scaling back on big-screen adventures in the Galaxy Far, Far Away, but it's beginning to sound like the studio is finally getting its act together.
We were expecting to learn more about Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's mysterious project (which recently lost Damon Lindelof and gained Steven Knight) next month at Star Wars Celebration London, but Jeff Sneider has heard that we'll actually be getting three Star Wars movie announcements at the event.
If we had to hazard a guess, we'd say the other two are the films Taika Waititi and Shawn Levy have lined up, but with the latter busy working on Deadpool 3, there's a chance Lucasfilm will unveil a brand-new project we haven't heard anything about yet.
Plot details are being tightly guarded until Celebration, but we have heard that at least one of these movies will focus on a character or characters from the sequel trilogy. Rey (Daisy Ridley) seems to be the prevailing theory, but we could also see Finn (John Boyega) and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) back in action.
Sneider has also heard that the planned Indiana Jones Ravenwood spin-off TV series has been scrapped, because Disney has told Lucasfilm to keep its focus on Star Wars going forward (he believes this may have had something to so with Willow's recent cancellation).
What would you like this next era of Star Wars movies to focus on?
