STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT III Reportedly Scrapped, But We May Be Getting A JEDI: FALLEN ORDER Sequel

Following the final update for Star Wars Battlefront II, a new report claims that a third chapter is not in the works at DICE, though we could soon see a Jedi: Fallen Order sequel. Check it out...

DICE confirmed last week that the recent Scarif expansion for Star Wars Battlefront II will be its last. While they promised support for "years" to come, a new report claims that it won't involve a third instalment. According to Bespin Bulletin (which has been a reliable source of news many times in the past), DICE is instead focusing on the next instalment of the Battlefield franchise.

The first Battlefront game was criticised for being online-only, and while the second did feature a story mode, it's often been blasted for an over reliance on micro transactions.

On the plus side, there is some good news for EA's Star Wars - Jedi: Fallen Order series of games.

The Instagram page also clams that a second chapter is slated for sometime in 2022, a move which definitely makes sense after how well the first one performed. Not everyone loved it, of course, but sales were through the roof and reviews were mostly positive.

You can find more details in the post below, and we'll keep you guys updated when we learn more.

EXCLUSIVE: EA has no plans for a ‘Battlefront III’

Honestly, I don't even want a Battlefront 3. I'd rather they just make paid expansions to Battlefront 2.

The alternative would be really bad. Getting a Battlefront 3 and having to start out with no content all over again. We've waited 2 years for Battlefront 2 to be expanded just to this point. Having to start from scratch again would be a real bummer.

@RageCipher - Well there's no problem if Battlefront 3 comes with all Battlefront 2 base content. Then I would be in favour of a Battlefront 3.

But that's not what happened with Battlefront 1. In terms of content I'm talking about maps mainly. Battlefront 2 had none of the maps that Battlefront 1 had at launch. It still doesn't have most of those maps. Battlefront 1 had Bespin, Scarif and other maps that Battlefront 2 either doesn't have or only just recieved 2 years later.

So based on that evidence, I'm not confident all Battlefront 2 content will be included in Battlefront 3. And as I say, having to wait for all those maps to either be pointlessly remade (as many are already perfect) or ignored completely isn't something I'm looking forward to.

For example, I'd rather get Umbara or Courscant than get another Hoth map for the 5th time. If they waste time remaking all the OT maps AGAIN instead of making new content, I'm not interested in BF3.

@RageCipher - "Well in fairness the way most games work is the second version is the top version of it."

And Battlefront 2 wasn't the "top" version untill 3 years later.

@RageCipher - I think he means the original Battlefront games. But I agree BF2 at launch > BF1 2015

@RageCipher - Comparing it to a turd isn't a good comparison.

Moff Gideon to appear in the sequel to Fallen Order. I would like to discover that he is a Mandalorian traitor.

Can't wait for the Fallen Order sequel. I still need to replay the first one with the orange saber.

They should make Battlefront 3 for the PS5.

Just think how great it would have looked, using shit from The Mandalorion.

@marvel72 - What Mandalorian content could be brought to Battlefront? Not many large battles in the show. And the military forces are just Rebels and Empire anyway.

I guess that town that they defended would make a good map? Nothing else that I can think of though.

@RageCipher - Mando's not really a hero though. He starts out as kind of an anti-hero and we see the good in him with the Baby Yoda stuff.

But it still wouldn't really make sense for him to be fighting for the Republic. He's just a freelance bounty hunter, somebody the Republic wouldn't hire.

Nightwing1015 - 5/3/2020, 9:03 AM
@RageCipher - Well Han and Lando were both Republic generals so it makes complete sense they'd fight for the Republic.

Also, Obi-Wan and Anakin don't fight for the Rebel side. Nor Vader for CIS. Perhaps they do in Galactic Assult, but nobody plays that anymore. The main game mode these days is the era-locked supremacy.

But yeah, if he could fight against the imperial remenant, then his presence with the New Republic would be justified. Apparently he'll run into the New Republic in season 2. So who knows, maybe he will join them

@TheJustinHammer - Yes, of course there are still lobbies of it running - I should've been clearer. I meant to say it's not the primary mode of the game like it once was. Supremacy is now the primary mode of the game and occupies the first slot in the menu. It's something DICE pushed big since they introduced it last year. Personally, I'm glad they put more focus on Supremacy as I enjoy it more.

Nightwing1015 - 5/3/2020, 9:24 AM
@RageCipher - Yeah Maul fighting for the empire was a strange one, not sure why they did it. I think they needed an equal number of heroes for both sides and so, put it in anyway despite it not making sense. Also, people were probably glad about it because they're all farming kills for the special skin you get.

As for Baby Yoda, not sure how that gameplay would work. But there is a mod out that brings it to the game and it's hilarious!
Nightwing1015
Nightwing1015 - 5/3/2020, 9:33 AM
@TheJustinHammer - What I mean is Galactic Assault hasn't received a new map since January 2018 and every new update for the last year has brought new Supremacy content. It's clear DICE prefer that mode these days. I think it's because it's similar to the original Battlefront games - command posts and stuff like that.

Something tells me that if we ever do see BF3, the main mode will probably be closer in nature to Supremacy that to GA.

Bought Battlefront 2 at launch and was extremely disappointed and not for the reasons many were. First off the story mode was a complete waste, secondly I just hated the fact that there isn’t an actual aim down sight in the game. Having a first person perspective with not aim down sight just ruined the whole thing for me it felt so off. All I really wanted was Battlefield skinned like Star Wars and somehow they messed that up. On the other hand as janky and clunky as Fallen Order was I loved it and can’t wait to see what Respawn does next so I’m fine with this

For Jedi Fallen Order 2 Can we get more planets, fast travel, more costume choices, and add ons please?

We're never getting a BF3 are we? The 2nd game has been very fun for a while now, it's really only lacking in skins for the troops and hero characters (how does Bobba not have a simple Jango recolor!?). The 3rd game would need to launch with everything #2 has as its base content though, we can't keep getting anemic games in this franchise only to wait years for the content to catch up. The new series has been fun to play from the start it's just everything around it that's been lacking until they ramped up the content release for this a while ago.

I can't understand why EA would put the series in the backburner & instead focuses on a new Battlefield. I get they fully own that series, but Battlefront is finally in a good state to put out a fantastic game from the get go. They could finally really leave a good mark on this series.
