STAR WARS: Damon Lindelof's Planned Movie Rumored To Begin Shooting As Soon As This April

Up until recently, Lucasfilm had three Star Wars movies dated for December 19, 2025, December 17, 2027, and December 22, 2023, though the latter has been unofficially removed from Disney's release schedule.

We're beginning to lose track of the various projects on the way to theaters, with Taika Waititi (Thor: Love and Thunder) and Krysty Wilson-Cairns (1917) also in the midst of writing a movie together. Deadpool 3 helmer Shawn Levy also has something in the works, as does Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and writer Michael Waldron.

Then, there's Patty Jenkins' Rogue Squadron, a movie the Wonder Woman director recently confirmed she's still attached to. Oh, and let's not forget Rian Johnson's trilogy!

Watchmen showrunner Damon Lindelof is developing a Star Wars movie thought to be set after the sequel trilogy, with Justin Britt-Gibson joining him to pen the screenplay. Ms. Marvel's Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy has been tapped to direct, and it sounds like the project will be the first of all these movies to arrive in theaters.

While we're taking this with a pinch of salt, World of Reel (via SFFGazette.com) is claiming to have learned that production on Lindelof's untitled Star Wars movie begins in April. Reiterating recent rumours, they note that while it will feature a new set of leads with some of the characters from the last trilogy making an appearance.

That could mean the likes of Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron finally get satisfying endings to their respective stories, though giving them cameo roles here arguably lessens their importance to the wider franchise. On the other hand, serialised storytelling is working really well for Star Wars on Disney+, so perhaps that's the plan for movies now as well.

It's been a long time since The Rise of Skywalker was released, and we're definitely overdue a new big screen story set in this Galaxy Far, Far Away. Will Lindelof be the one who sets this franchise back on the right track?

We may get the answer to that question sooner than expected!

Highly doubt any of those three actors will want to return after the treatment they got. But we'll see, much crazier things have happened.

This last trilogy sucked. The direction taken by the JJ Abrams machine & then the others, was just awful.

The sendoff for the original greats was also handled TERRIBLY.

They should wipe the whole board & not even consider any of the producers, writers, or directors that made these movies or even let them anywhere near as "consultants".

Time to start over & do something original.

As usual, Wilding is doing the wild thing with his assumptions.

Why would any of the cast from the sequel trilogy return to this trainwreck of a once favored franchise? And not just for the money.

Rey turned into some unrelatable demigoddess.

Poe was made into be tragically underused.

And Finn, the biggest casualty of all, was reduced from having the greatest rags (Empire/Stormtrooper) to riches (Jedi/Freedom fighter) story to basically this in the whole trilogy,

This is DOA. Just waiting for Disney to admit this to themselves.

@TheLight - a former stormtrooper turned Jedi freedom fighter. Now that is something that deserves a whole movie of itself
