Lucasfilm Games recently released a new trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and there's a huge amount of excitement for where Cal Kestis' story goes next. The hero is quickly becoming one of the franchise's most important characters, and with this sequel set around the same time as Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi, we're excited to see what Lucasfilm has planned.

The hope among fans is that Cal could eventually find his way into a live-action project, with Cameron Monaghan - who lends his voice and likeness to the hero - obviously reprising the role.

Entertainment Weekly (via SFFGazette.com) recently caught up with the actor, and he explained why, for now, telling a story across these games is a bigger priority. "It’s been really amazing doing it within the video game space because I think games are vastly under-explored and underutilized, and are only really getting their due in this moment."

"People are looking at games and seeing they’re incredible and moving and significant," he continues. "So my priority right now is to make sure we have a satisfying arc within the games."

"What happens or where Star Wars wants to go from there is anybody’s guess," Monaghan said of possibly bringing Cal into a movie or TV show, "but I can say I love Cal and it’s been a joy finding him over the past few years. So we’ll see."

That's probably not the update many of you will have been hoping for, but it would be a shame for this fantastic video game franchise to be sidelined just to shoehorn the Jedi into an upcoming movie or TV show. We're sure it could happen eventually, though probably not until this specific story ends.

Picking up five years after the events of Jedi: Fallen Order, Jedi: Survivor is a third-person, narrative-driven action-adventure game from Respawn Entertainment, developed in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games. If this trailer is any indication, the stakes have increased dramatically in this follow-up, with new supporting characters, locations, and gameplay mechanics.

No longer a Padawan, Cal has come into his own and grown into a powerful Jedi Knight.

Carrying the memories and expectations of the Jedi Order with him, his crusade against the Empire has only become more perilous. The Dark Times are closing in - with enemies new and familiar surrounding him, Cal will need to decide how far he’s willing to go to save those closest to him.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC and hits stores on March 17, 2023.
