STAR WARS: RESISTANCE Website Reveals The Series' Place In The Franchise Timeline

We've known Star Wars: Resistance will be set between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, but now we have a more specific idea for where in the franchise timeline it is set.

Disney and Lucasfilm's upcoming animated series Star Wars: Resistance will serve as a nice gap-filler between  Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. But, given that the time between those two films spans 30 years, we didn't know exactly where the Resistance fits into the franchise timeline. However, thanks to some eagle-eyed fans who did a little snooping around the official Star Wars: Resistance website, we now have a better idea.

According to a brief meta description of the series in the code of the website, Resistance is set about six months prior to the beginning of The Force Awakens. The description, which appears to have been tweaked to remove the timeline, initially read:

"Set about six months before The Force Awakens, Star Wars Resistance tells the story of Kazuda Xiono, a young pilot recruited by the Resistance and tasked with a top-secret mission to spy on the growing threat of the First Order."

Although the description has since been changed, fans on Twitter and Reddit managed to screencap for evidence.

It's unclear why Disney would remove the timeframe, perhaps to allow some flexibility for the series, which follows the adventures of a young pilot, Kazudo Xiono, who is recruited by the Resistance for a secret mission to spy on the First Order. Resistance will feature both new and familiar faces including Poe Dameron, BB-8, Captain Phasma and even General Leia, who we recently learned will be voiced by Rachel Butera.

Star Wars: Resistance will premiere on Sunday, October 7 at 10:00 p.m. EDT on Disney Channel. A trailer for the highly anticipated series debuted last week. Additional details for the first episode reveal that Poe Dameron and BB-8 will assign Kaz to the Colossus, a massive refueling platform on an outer rim ocean planet, where he meets a "cast of colorful new aliens, droids, and creatures."

Horrible animation, even worse than Clone Wars and Rebels

@IcemanX - totally agree. It's lazy and looks terrible.

I imagine Seth MacFarlene is going to be fired from voicing Palpatine, right?

I wish we could go back. Before the dark times. Before the Disney.

6 months? They clearly don’t expect this to last too long...

Neat. I imagine the first season would be the Cold war between Resistance and First Order while the later seasons can show the actual full war.

Also, I guess everyone's gonna hate this show the first year then bitch about its replacement when it ends. I mean I get the trailer wasn't amazing but then neither was most of Clone Wars first season or the movie for that matter and neither was Rebels first 8 or so episodes. Just seems like there's a pattern that keeps repeating itself. "Oh, Clone Wars sucks we already had a clone wars show what are you doing Lucas? Oh, Rebels sucks bring back Clone Wars. Oh, resistance man they should have stopped with Rebels". I mean it could be bad hell if it's anything like the last 2 shows I expect the first 8 or so episodes to be very mediocre but just like those other two shows, Filoni made I hope it will improve as it goes on.

If this is geared towards adults they may have issues. I don't care what anyone says, but Rebels and TCW was not geared towards little kids. Hopefully this is being marketed for kids.

@Philvis - Marketed towards kids, but heavily references the old PC X-Wing flight sim games (the "rings" course and the R-41 Starchaser) that were popular back in the 90's - 2000's. I think the characters and probably the story are geared towards the young kids to get them interested in the ST movies, but they are also trying to interest the adults with the nostalgia.

Kind of a weird choice given that there is a 30 year time gap between Episode 6 and 7. You think they would have given themselves more space to make creative decisions.

I'm interested to see how this one turns out. I for one don't think the animation looks horrible at all. I think it looks low-detail, highly stylized but that's not a bad thing.

Hey look more Star Wars that most likely has no Luke. Why does Disney hate Luke so much?
Skywalker2B
Skywalker2B - 8/20/2018, 7:39 AM
@AnthonyVonGeek - Because he represents all white males...in their eyes. Therefore, Luke must represent white male supremacy. And that's fascist. Disney is anti-fascist. So, down with Luke! ;)

And, by 6 months prior to TFA, Luke now hates himself (as all white males should, apparently) and decided to take himself out of the equation. He's in hiding, sulking, determined to kill off the last of the Jedi (you know, that white supremacist group that promote violence with laser swords).

The negative response to Star Wars continues to amuse me. On Disney's official Youtube channel, the trailer has 8k likes and 36k hates. I remember when Star Wars was beloved. That was before the dark times. Before The Last Jedi.

6 months before TFA? Colour me UNINTERESTED! You've already changed Luke Skywalker into a complete ass and pales in comparison to what he once was... would have much rather see something set a couple years after ROTJ as the Rebellion finishes off the remnants of the Empire and the rise of the New Republic
