It seems the search for a young Han Solo is reaching the final stages, as reports are coming in that the Phil Lord and Christopher Miller-helmed Star Wars prequel may have narrowed down a final shortlist.

According to THR, tests were conducted in London last weekend and actors Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!), Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction), and Taron Egerton (Kingsman, Eddie the Eagle) emerged as front-runners. Plus, Variety adds that Blake Jenner (Glee) and Jack O'Connell (Starred Up, Unbroken) are also in contention.

Apparently a few other names may also be on the list, but they remain under wraps for now.

Whoever winds up nabbing the iconic role will make his debut as the young Han Solo in the Star Wars spinoff, which is scheduled to hit theaters in 2018.

The dude from Kingsmen. Charisma is there. I'll use my influence in Hollywood to make it happen

Please don't get Taron Egerton. I love the dude, and he may even fit Han Solo, but I think he fits a different role even better. Thanks to Kingsman anyway

If it's someone from that list, make it Jack O'Connell. He's great in Skins and Starred Up.

I think of all of them, Edgerton would be my choice. He can manage that charm while still being rough around the edges.

But my biggest problem with this movie is that A) Its happening - and B) They are casting someone who is essentially the same age as Ford was in the first movie. I would much rather see them go a little younger and get someone like Tye Sheridan to play the role. I feel like it would also be a lot more interesting. Instead they are going to do a Guardians of the Galaxy vibe.

Even Miles Teller was a better choice.

Huh, thought Scott Eastwood would have made it to the short-list.

@DeusExSponge - Clint's son knows better. Besides we still don't know who he is in SS and his role may end up being bigger in the future so the DCverse may be his preferred franchise.

unless his role was revealed then in that case I'm wrong and we'll see.
