STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Adds WOMAN IN BLACK 2 Actress

Another day, another new Star Wars: The Force Awakens cast member brought to our attention. This time it's Leanne Best, who was most recently seen as the titular spook in the actually quite good Woman In Black: Angel Of Death. Who will she play? It's speculation time...

Star Wars: The Force Awakens officially wrapped production last November, but we still seem to be hearing about new actors being outed as cast members on a fairly regular basis. The latest is British actress Leanne Best, who was named in a recent PR-email (via Total Geeks). "Brit actor Leanne Best [is] available for interview,” it reads. “Leanne is currently starring as the woman in black in ‘The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death’ showing in theatres worldwide. With a number of film projects on the horizon, 2015 will also see Leanne in J.J. Abrams’ highly anticipated ‘Star Wars VII’.” No details on her role are given of course, but it's most likely a pretty minor one. Best is now most familiar as the ghost from The Woman In Black 2: Angel Of Death, but she made her name appearing in British TV shows such as Casualty, Wire In The Blood, Doctors and more recently Ripper Street.

What's with all the female actresses? Is this another case of diversification for the sake of diversification?

I feel as if they should've added more big names to this movie

@Sipprelle

That vid was interesting because that's how I feel about Joel Shumacher Batman films. The Property does matter though, but it's how the creative team views the property that really effects the way it is presented. Fantastic Four as a property is important to uphold; where the failures roll in is how a creative team views the content. Difference between directors and story tellers differs greatly. How many different versions of Frankenstein are there? The story is the same but it has many different interpretations. Like taking a talking Frankenstein that reads the Bible vs a flailing one that just murders out of instinct. How a director/Writers perceive a monster/hero/anything is important. Does the director 'get' what he is reading?

Shumacher didn't get it, Story didn't get it. Does Trank? Director alone can only go so far, if they don't understand the characters and the actors don't read the comics? Eeehhhh....we'll see.

@npamusic bad actors and bad writing are two separate things entirely the long actor I didn't really like was the guy who played Anakin but besides that it was nothing but bad writing

The quite good Woman in Black 2? The first one was quite good, the second would present a potentially spooky scenario and then do nothing with it! The lead actress in it was good though.

The sequel was not good at all, BUT the acting in it was actually good surprisingly. The original with Daniel Radcliffe was quite spooky with some nice creepy moments.

Wow... I'm loving the fact that EP7 will have such a large female presence.

There was barely any female characters in the previous Star Wars movies, so this is a much welcome change.
