STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI Hits Tracking And Looks Set For A Most Impressive $200 Million + Opening Weekend

Early tracking indicates that Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi will pass $200M over the course of its opening weekend next month. Could it possibly match The Force Awakens' record-breaking haul?...

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hit tracking this morning, and perhaps not too surprisingly, Disney and Lucasfilm's latest foray into the galaxy far, far away is estimated to enjoy a $200 million + opening weekend when it finally hits theaters on December 15.

The big question is, will it take in enough to match the record-breaking bow of its predecessor?

Star Wars: The Force Awakens obliterated previous weekend totals records with an incredible $248 million when it opened in 2015, and although one of the methods used to gauge audience interest actually suggests that The Last Jedi is tracking slightly better than J.J. Abrams' film, it will still have its work cut out to surpass that number.
