We may not have any plot details for Godzilla director Gareth Edwards' Star Wars: Rogue One yet, but it looks like we might be able to add another cast member to the mysterious spin-off flick. Word is Ben Mendelsohn (currently stealing the show in Netflix's Bloodline) is being lined up for a major role next to The Theory Of Everything's Felicity Jones, who will apparently play the lead. The news was first reported by Deadline, with THR and The Wrap chiming in so while nothing is set in stone, a deal may not be far away.

Obviously there's no mention of the character he would play (Star Wars stuff is kept secret 'round these parts don't cha know?), but I think it's safe to say that no matter what the role, Mendelsohn would knock it out of the galaxy, far far away (sorry).

The Place Beyond the Pines is my favorite of this current decade, along with Drive.

He didn't do much in TDKR, but he was fantastic in The Place Beyond the Pines. I've heard only good things about him, and I just recently saw a trailer for a western with Michael Fassbender that he has a big role in, and he looks great as well. This guy seems like a very talented actor.

This is very exciting. Ben Mendelsohn is currently one of my favorite Actors. As @Reasonnnn said, "Ben Mendelsohn automatically makes your movie better. It is known." You don't improvise lines such as, "If you ride like lightning, you're going to crash like thunder," and not have an assload of talent.

But, as for who he could be . . .

Went to IMDb and saw he was in an episode of Farscape back in the day. A Good actor hopefully playing a good character.

TDKR was awful. Bane was awesome until Talia became the antagonist and they made him a cheap thug! It's worse than Batman & Robin... There I said it.

I like this actor. It's kind of funny most everyone already assumes he will be a villain. Maybe he's the hero? Probably not. Some people say he does look uncannily like a young Grand Moff Tarkin. I could see that. But what is Rogue One? Is it the beginning of Slave one? Is it a Rogue Squadron movie? Can't wait to find out. I'm not especially thrilled with Gareth Edwards who, imo, made the absolute most boring giant monster movie ever made. The parts where they cut away from Godzilla fighting made me want to leave to the theater. My only gripe and every director has the ability to improve.
