UPDATE: THE LEGO MOVIE Directors To Helm STAR WARS Anthology Movie Focusing On 'Han Solo'

It seems like Christopher Miller and Phil Lord will no longer direct The Flash for Warner Bros. as they're now set to tackle a Star Wars anthology movie focusing on a young Han Solo. The twist? It's not the spinoff that Josh Trank was attached to. Read on for details...

The Hollywood Reporter reveals Christopher Miller and Phil Lord (21 Jump Street) have decided that one of Disney and Lucasfilm's Star Wars anthology movies will be their next directing project. They're set to write, direct, and produce the release which will revolve around a young Han Solo according to the trade's sources. However, this isn't the same project that Josh Trank was attached to direct before he was reportedly fired as a result of his behavious on the set of Fantastic Four. That one is said to focus on the origin of Boba Fett, and is still searching for another director.

Where this Han Solo movie will fit into Lord and Miller's schedule remians to be seen, but the site mentions that, "They were to develop a Flash feature for Warners as a directing vehicle but now with the untitled Star Wars spin-off, that is likely off the table." The same goes for a third Jump Street movie, but this new won't impact that animated Spider-Man feature as they were never planning on directing that anyway. What do you guys think about this news? Sound off below!

UPDATE: StarWars.com has now confirmed the news, and it seems like this is indeed the movie which Josh Trank was set to direct. Slated for a May 25th, 2018 release, the untitled release was written by Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan. The story focuses on how young Han Solo became the smuggler, thief, and scoundrel whom Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi first encountered in the cantina at Mos Eisley. I know this would get ridiculous backlash but lets be honest...

cast Chris Pratt as Han (if he wasn't so damn tied up with other franchises)

and Zac Efron if they need a small Luke cameo or even a big Luke cameo or just Luke in general..."but Zac Efron" blah blah blah ... kids a good actor and looks the part

RIP FLASH.

Oh man, Phil Lord & Chris Miller choosing another "questionable" film project, but yet they always deliver. They're batting 1.000 right now.

Taron Egerton as Solo?

Man good luck to whoever places Young Solo.

So you get Miller and Lord to just direct? Seems like a waste. I also feel bad for whoever they are going to cast as young Han.

@Arrowverse I think they're going younger. Pratt is already the same age range as Ford in the OG Star Wars.

@Jcool they're producing, writing and directing.

I'm torn between Phil Lord and Chris Miller directing a franchise film :) and the project being a Han Solo prequel :( .

The Flash movie seems like a better fit for them but who knows.... they could make this Han Solo movie awesome just as much as Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street.

Remember, Miller and Lord are only writing for the Flash. Fairly sure they can do that and still tackle Star Wars, Jump Street and that animated Spider-Man nonsense.

I wonder how long before A New Hope this is. Because depending on how young he is, it won't even matter if it's Ford or not

You're only directing a Star Wars prequel featuring one of the most beloved characters in the series. What could possibly go wrong?

We had a chance to get an actually good adaptation of The Flash (regardless of the terrible casting) [also in the show], and we [frick]ed it up!

They were never officially confirmed to be the directors and only writing The Flash. Warner Brothers obviously tried to get them to direct, but as you can see that's not going to happen.

Besides the movie itself being so [frick]ing unnecessary, I don't have a problem. Never even expected them to direct The Flash. They're so overbooked right now, but I am hoping they at least stay on as writers.

This is exactly what I didn't want AND feared would come out these Anthology films. Worse than Darth Vader appearing in Rouge One. Ugh.

Just read they could stay on as writers. That's good

Still doe, fvck star wars

THIS GUY!
Anthony Ingruber

He played a young Harrison Ford in Age of Adeline.

The idea of re-casts for these prequels is weird. Harrison Ford already played young Han Solo. They'll prob cast someone that is older/hunkier than Harrison was in 1977 to play a 2-year younger version of Han.

I mean, I get it, they want to cash in on that Han Solo name. But Star Wars is such an infinitely big universe, nobody can come up with something more interesting and original than that?

Tell ya' what, I'll be 100% in if it solves the "who shot first" thing. So much potential now.

Anthony Ingruber should play Han Solo. he is a spitting image of Harrison Ford, and played a young version of him already in Age of Adaline
