A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near future [the year 2020], where the sport of boxing has gone hi-tech, “Real Steel” stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Goyo) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.

Real Steel is set to hit theatres on October 7th!

I must say, I thought this movie sounded dumb as shit... all the way until now. That footage and story idea look rad.

This movie still looks ridiculous, I don't even know what to think of it and I don't know why the hype is so big on it. When I 1st saw the previews for it, I thought, Oh Shiz, Someone made a Rockem Sockem Robot movie.

The word "awesome" should never be associated with Rock'em Sock'em 2.0

this is going to be a man action fighting popcorn flick. It won't win any awards or get praise from critics. So if you are expecting The Color Purple, you'll be disappointed.BUT. If you want a action movie with fx fighting and loud soundtrack AND you know what it is.YOU MAY BE HAPPY. I think I'll enjoy it quite abit.

Watched this movie a few weeks ago at a special preview screening and it was hugely entertaining. You'll be surprised how much you enjoy the robot fights and anyone who knows their Rocky films will spot direct moves from certain fights from Rocky 4 and Rocky 2.

It's a little corny but undeniably fun from start to finish, should do well enough at the box office.

You can already tell the plot of the movie.
He is a badass boxer, get's hurt/burnt out.
Turns to robot boxing, but he sucks at it because you have to use a controller. It isn't like the real deal. (see what I did there with real deal)
So he designs a new robot as his last hoorah, but with a catch...the controller is motion controlled by his body movements. Now he can get back in the ring with his bot.

But oh wait, General Stryker has super bullets that can.....

Oh wait....wrong [frick]ed up Hugh Jackman movie!

@agentofshield half the posts on main seem to have nothing to do with comic bookmovies that or they dig deep for some obscure comic adaption

@OptimusPrimeTime - Well you got some of that right but not entirely. He is an ex boxer but boxing in the time of the movie is only done with robots and he does suck at controlling them. His estranged son has more to do with the plot rebuilding the sparring robot and Evangeline Lilly's character is a mechanic that helps his kid as well as the daughter of his ex trainer. The schmaltzy underlining plot of this film is his relationship building with the son he never had anything to do with until his wife died. It's very much like two Stallone films put together, Over the Top (1987) and Rocky.

Haters can diss the trailers but the film is as fun to watch as Rocky 3 and the audience I saw it with at the preview screening were cheering at the end. Doesn't matter about how predictable it all was, it was fun!

Wait. Jackman, the blob and boxing rings? Have I seen this before without the non-transforming transformers?

I must be a sucker for commercialism... because when i first saw the trailers/adverts for these i was like "MEH!/WHATEV'S"

But with the eminem music behind it and the top metal swinging action....i will now watch this..Advertising works people...EAT ME!!!

That is all..
