A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near future [the year 2020], where the sport of boxing has gone hi-tech, “Real Steel” stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Goyo) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.

Real Steel is set to hit theatres on October 7th!

i find it hilarious that most comments here on this flick on are negative even though it rose from 67 to 73% on RT today.
while it still can go down (probably will) it doesn't change the fact that most people here can't get over the whole Rock'em Sock'em deal.

give the movie a chance. i will.
especially after reading IGN's review. they liked it as much as Thor and Captain America.
suppose that's something.

I actually like the concept, but the robots don't look very cool.

I"m so stoked for this movie. This will be a HUGE nail in Jackmans coffin. You feel that sinking feelin, Hughie boy? That's your career going down the toilet. Adios a-hole.

I saw this movie a month ago at a special preview screening and it was one of the most fun films i'd seen in a long while. You guys are gonna be surprised, the entire audience loved it! But then this site is full of fanboys, everything they hate normally ends up making lots of money because the average fanboys are normally base level cynics with real narrow minds.

This looks like such a stupid movie...I try not to judge things before I see it, but damn...the whole concept is rediculous. And hugh jackman is not even a good actor.

I don't know why almost everyone on this site keep saying this looks stupid...a guy runniing around in a bat costume,a guy wearing the american flag and another guy swinging around in tight spandex are acceptable concepts, but THIS is unacceptable?

Is this based on a comic book? No? Then get it the hell off.
