Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds."

Not as good as DISTRICT 9, but still a very entertaining and thoughtful blockbuster.

@unknownguy In what way was it terrible. I mean i could see someone saying that its overated, even average but bad. That seems a bit far fetched. Well guess that your opinion doesn't matter hence you being unknown.

@Alphadog

I can't speak for unknownguy (I don't even know who he is) but I found Elysium to be a nearly complete fail in terms of emotional connection and well-thought-out plot. Don't get me wrong, the emotional strings and the plot were both very overt, so no mistaking the intention, but they did not work for me.

On the other hand, the visual effects were exceptional and Sharlto Copley's character was amusing (if profane).

But if anyone cares about my two cents...this is a film that you can pass up, and your life will not be lacking at all.

This movie was amazing. I thought it was great. I had no problem with the plot and i love the world Neil set's up in these sci fi films. Its dark and gritty but it seems it can be set in a realistic world.

The movie was meh. I agree with Wolf38 in that there was no emotional connection. I was excited about Jodi Foster being in the movie, but her character was not what I thought it would be so that was disappointing. I want to elaborate, but that would be spoiler territory.

Also, there's no reason why that space station couldn't just send an extra medical bed down to the planet. I mean, it's not like they couldn't afford it. Are people really that cruel/cheap? I know they're cruel/cheap, but THAT cruel/cheap?

Movie was bland and generic, nothing special. Forgettable but good effects.

Loved district 9! Walked out of this in favor of sleeping in a bed.
